Banul Baqa’u Delegation

Narrated by Ibn Shahin and Abu Nuaim (R).  In the ninth year of Hijra, a group of three men from Banul Baqa’u came to the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  The three men were the hundred-year-old Mu’awiya bin Saur al-Baqa’i, his son Bishar, and Fujay’u bin Abdullahi bin Junduh.  A blind man named Abd Amr also accompanied them. This group was given a warm welcome in Madinah.  After a grand reception, they prepared to return to their homeland .  At that time the aged Muawiyah  said.  Oh Prophet ﷺ, I am very old and I am blessed by your touch.  Behold, this son of mine. He is the best serving son. Please pat on his face. The Prophet ﷺ  blessed them with his prayer. They were presented with white goats of high quality having enough milk.  One of the narrators of this incident says:  Later, when poverty struck in their tribe, the family of Muawiya (R) was not touched by poverty.

Abdu Amr, who was blind with them, was named Abdur Rahman.  That  is, the name meaning servant of Amr was changed to servant of Allah.

The group of Banu Bakr bin Wa’il.

Ibn Sa’ad (R) narrates.  A group of Banu Bakar came to the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  One of them asked the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  ‘Do you know Quss bin Saidah?  Is he not one among you ?  The Holy Prophet ﷺ responded only with this.

A person named Abdullah bin Aswad also came with this group.  On the way, they landed at Yamama and traded the goods they had and reached Madinah with the amount in hand.  They brought dates for Prophet ﷺ .  The Holy Prophet ﷺ offered special prayers for them.

The message that these readings give us is that small and large groups were constantly coming from all the surrounding countries to hear and know about Prophet ﷺ and the growth of Islam . These incidents also testify to how much the Holy Prophet ﷺ took care to receive everyone as they deserve, to know their needs and to respond to them, and to provide relief to those who need relief.

It is a remarkable chapter in the life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ that a global culture that was formed from Madinah was able to be applied to people from different parts of the world and that a great vision was organized in a global manner before the modern techniques of global society were formed. The world is watching with amazement how Prophet ﷺ united Salman (R) from Persia, Bilal (R) from Africa, Abu Hurairah (R) from Doss, Abu Musa (R) from Yemen towards the same goal.

Delegation from the Baliyy tribe

Ibn Zahid (R) quotes from Ruwaif bin Thabith al Balawi (R).  In Rabi’ul Awwal, the ninth year of Hijra, a group from our tribe set out for Madinah.  We arrived in a  group at the Banu Jadila tribe, where we usually go while traveling to Madinah.  From there, we moved to the Prophet ﷺ . Prophet ﷺ was sitting in his house with his followers. I greeted him there.  Then my name was called.  Ruaifee…. I said. ‘Labbaik, here I am .  Then Prophet ﷺ asked me: ‘Who are  with you’ ? My countrymen. ‘Welcome to you and your people’.

I said. ‘Those who are with me have come believing in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the Oneness of Allah. They came as representatives of the entire people there. If Allah decides to bless someone, He will bring them to Islam.  Then another leader of the group came forward.  His name is Abu Dubaib.  He said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we have come bearing witness to the Oneness of Allah and your Prophethood.  We have renounced everything that we worshiped until now.

“All thanks to Allah who guided you to Islam.  Whoever dies in any non-Islamic faith, their abode is Hell”.  I am very interested in hospitality.  Will I get a reward from Allah for it?  Abu Dubaib asked the Prophet ﷺ.  “Every good deed to the rich as well as the poor has a reward from Allah”.  Then he asked again. How many days do we have to entertain a guest?  “Three days.  The rest of the days will be considered as charity.  A guest staying near you should not trouble you”.

What is the Islamic law of a goat isolated in the outskirts ?  “It’s either for you or someone like you or for a wolf. So what about the camel? If it is your’s it is for you or for its owner.  Leave it until the owner finds it.  The Prophet ﷺ answered all the questions like this.

Later, the Prophet ﷺ brought some dates and requested them to eat . They stayed as guests for three days and after they were sent away with gifts. They left for the country with the gifts they had received from Madinah.

How many messages have we received from this incident! It is important  that the Prophet ﷺ presented precise visions and perspectives on how to approach each stage of life.  Islam addressed the world from the very beginning by presenting accurate views in all areas of life. Even today, which city other than Madinah or a leader other than Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has the right to speak about moral lessons!

Bahra’u Delegation .

Says Karimat bint Miqdad (R).  I heard my mother  Zuba’a’t bint Zubair bin Abdul Mutalib says .  A 13-member group from Bahrain reached the house of Miqdad bin Amr.  We were in our house in Banu Hudaila then .  On hearing the arrival of the group, Miqdad went and received them. Accommodation was provided for them.  Served them Haise, a special food.

Says Zuba’a (R).  It was a meal we had prepared before they arrived.  Miqdad, who was very interested in entertaining guests, quickly served the item for the guests. They returned the bowl .Collected what is left in the bowl and kept in a small bowl. It was sent with Sidra, the maid of the house, for the Prophet ﷺ .  Then Prophet ﷺ was at the house of Ummu Salama (R).  The Holy Prophet ﷺ asked after receiving the food.  Is this food sent by Zuba’a? After confirmation Prophet ﷺ told to put it there. Then Prophet ﷺ asked, what about  Abu Ma’abad’s guests?  Then I said,  ‘they are there’.

The Prophet ﷺ and those around him ate from the food that was brought. Sidra was also invited to eat food. Miraculously the remaining food was entrusted with Sidra. Instructed  to serve the food to the guests.  The guests ate as many days as they stayed there.  They were very happy and satisfied.  They kept saying that ‘you have served us our favorite food’ .  Then we said. ‘This is the rest of what the Prophet ﷺ ate.  The reason for such an increase in quantity is the blessing of Prophet’s ﷺ hands.  Then they enthusiastically proclaimed the prophethood of the Prophet ﷺ and rejoiced  of being convinced of the authenticity of the faith.  The Prophet ﷺ achieved his goal and imparted Islamic knowledge to them.  They stayed there for a few more days.  After that, when they returned to their home , Prophet ﷺ sent them away with gifts.

Once the mission teams reached the social circle formed by the Prophet ﷺ, there were definite plans to receive them and introduce them to the Prophet ﷺ and Islam.  The Prophet ﷺ’s character, beauty, hospitality, and extraordinary features revealed by Allah were all great qualities to be attracted to.  Everywhere there were people who were enlightened by the straight path.  The time when the mission teams came to Madinah was a time of beautiful scenes of people coming to Islam.  Each group carried the lights that they had taken to their homeland and continent.  Thus, within a short period of time, Islam gained popularity  all over the world.

Delegation of the Tujeeb tribe from Sukun.

Thirteen members of the tribe of Tujeeb came to the Prophet’s ﷺ house as a group of messengers from Sukun in Yemen. They came with their assets as charity .  Their arrival made the Prophet ﷺ very happy.  They were received with respect.  They said, O Prophet ﷺ!  We have come up with obligatory financial contribution from our wealth to be spent in the way of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ asked them to take it back to their country and give it to the poor there. They replied that what they had brought is the surplus of that has been distributed to all the poor in their country.  Abu Bakar (R) then intervened and said.  Until now, such a group has not come to us from the Arab tribes.  They have arrived by completing  their missions with great satisfaction.

They asked the Prophet ﷺ about many matters . They wrote down what they heard and learned the Holy Qur’an and practices directly. With that, Prophet ﷺ became interested in them and assigned Bilal (R) to take special care of their hospitality. However, they did not want to stay for long.  They expressed their interest in returning home soon.  They said that “they had seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, talked to Prophet ﷺ, and  they want to share their experiences with their natives as soon as possible.

Soon they arrived near Prophet ﷺ to return .  The Prophet ﷺ sent them off with the best gifts given to such groups. There was a young man who had been appointed to keep their goods . He had not yet come to Prophet ﷺ.  When the group reached near their  goods, they gave him permission to go and say goodbye to Prophet ﷺ.  He reached near Prophet ﷺ quickly.

He said. ‘I am a member of the group that left here a little while ago.  Just as you fulfilled all their needs and made them happy, be kind enough to make me happy also . I have no other special need to put forward. You pray to Allah to grant me His favor and mercy . That is what I want as a  gift. I want my wealth, prosperity, and self-satisfaction.  I am not interested in any other material gains.  The Prophet ﷺ offered a special prayer for him.  He prayed to Allah to forgive his sins and shower his mercy on him.  After that, Prophet ﷺ presented him loving gifts and sent him off.

Later the whole group returned home.  Some of them were later met in Mina in the tenth year of Hijra.  Then the Prophet ﷺ asked about the young man. They said only good things about him. Some others have introduced him as that the man used to be content with what he has, and even if all the wealth in this world were distributed in his presence, he would not be interested in a single piece of it.

The Holy Prophet ﷺ again inquired about the young man who had asked the Prophet ﷺ to pray in a special way.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ knew that he lead a life of contentment renouncing worldly pleasures. Then the Prophet ﷺ offered a special prayer for him. ” I hope he will die completely”. The companions did not quickly grasp the idea of this.  They asked the Prophet ﷺ.  How does one die completely?  “One’s interests and difficulties lay scattered into different parts of a valley.  Then say goodbye to this world somewhere there.  This is what usually happens.  Those who have accepted complete renunciation completely leave their connection with this world and join the hereafter with death.  Those who leave the desires and interests here, they will not get it, but the desires will remain here in many places.  To die completely is to maintain the renunciation of truly saying goodbye to this world”.

The aforesaid person lived as a renouncer . Satisfied with the simple food available.  Didn’t beg or ask anyone for anything.

After the demise of the Prophet ﷺ some provinces of Yemen apostatized from Islam.  At that time the man engaged in Islamic propagational  activities. Convinced people  about Allah and right thoughts.  The lessons of Islam were clearly and transparently imparted to the people.  Not a single person left Islam from his province.  Abu Bakar (R) who took over the leadership after the demise of the Prophet ﷺ, inquired about him.  He was inquiring about how he and his surroundings were doing.  Letters were sent to the Caliph’s representative, Ziyad Bin Labidi (R), referring to him.  Abu Bakar (R) entrusted his representative to inform him of glad tidings.

We have read about the different experiences of the Tujeeb group coming to Madinah.  It is also an indication that in every society there will be spiritual sages and personalities who live only in the thought of Allah, unlike the ordinary life.  Unlike the common people who approach Allah and live according to the general principles shared by the Prophet ﷺ, some people only survive in spiritual thought. They don’t need any privileges or status .  They have already realized the life of this world and its ultimate meaning.  They realized that it was momentary and not forever.  They lived with only the eternal success and prosperity of the hereafter.  They realized that any blessings received here must be left behind tomorrow, if not today.  They were accepted and treated accordingly.  We can understand from this incident how much the Prophet ﷺ regarded such thinkers and how much hope he had in them.

Delegation from Banu Taghlab.

A group of 16 Muslims and a few Christians came from Banu Taghlab to Madinah.  The Prophet ﷺ received them. The Christians came bearing crosses of gold. ?  Necessary arrangements were made for the Muslims and formed treaties for the Christians protecting their faith. Prophet ﷺ put forward some restrictions in baptizing infants. They agreed. They were sent away with gifts.

The arrival of this group of delegates is also indicative of the political situation in Madinah.  It is  proof that non-believers and those who follow religious practices had a safe access to Madinah. In Madinah cooperation with other religious believers and accommodating them without casteism and ethnicity were maintained.

This incident is also proof of how transparently the visions of Islam were imparted.

Delegation from Banu Tamim .

A group of seventy or eighty members and several leaders came to Madinah from Banu Tamim.  Uyainat bin Hiswn (R) and Aqra’u bin Habis (R) the leaders who were involved with the Prophet ﷺ in the conquest of Makkah, Hunain and Twaif.

By the time they reached Madinah, it was the time for mid-day prayer or Luhar.  Bilal (R) was waiting for the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ after performing the ‘Azan’ .  But the Banu Tamim did not have the patience to wait for the Prophet ﷺ to come .  They hurried and went to the back door of the Prophet’s ﷺ house and called loudly.  This was not a fair approach.  Hearing their voices, the Prophet ﷺ came out. Then they said: ‘What we praise is the ultimate praise, and what we term bad is the worst .  Immediately the Prophet ﷺ corrected them. “Prophet ﷺ explained that what is considered good by Allah is the ultimate good and what is considered evil by Allah is the ultimate evil”.

The Prophet ﷺ conveyed a clear lesson that one should not change his stance to please others. The Prophet ﷺ did not hesitate to welcome and encourage guests and correct their misunderstandings in time .  That is why things were explained in front of the visitors clearly .

Barau bin AZib (R) says.  A man came to the back side of the Prophet’s ﷺ house and said: ‘Oh Muhammad ﷺ… come down to us’.. No answer from the house of the Prophet ﷺ. He immediately said. O Muhammad ﷺ, if I praise, it is beautiful and if I slander, it is unfair . Then the Prophet ﷺ responded like this: “It is all  from Allah…” Then they said like this. We have come to proclaim our glory and greatness.  So give a chance to our orator and poet. Then the Prophet ﷺ said. “Let the orator in your group come forward”. Immediately Utharid bin Hajib stood up and began the talk.

‘All praise be to Allah.  Praise be to His majesty.  He deserves it. He blessed us with rulers and abundance of wealth. Therefore we do good.  He appointed us to be the most glorious in the East. We are leading in strength and equipment . Then who among the people is like us?  Aren’t we supposed to be the leaders and superiors of the people?  If there are any who want to surpass us, let them also tell  their number and size. But then we will enumerate each of our virtues. We don’t want to go into detail right now. We will explain later if someone talks against us’ . He sat there saying this.

Then the Prophet ﷺ called Thabit bin Qaisu Bin Shammas (R).  He was the brother of Banul Harith bin Al Khazraj. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Reply to this lecture”. He stood up and began to speak.  “All things belong to Allah. He has creation in the heavens and the earth. He decides the affairs of the heavens and the earth. His knowledge is as wide as His Kursi. Nothing comes into existence except by His bounty. It is His authority that makes us rulers.

He chose His Messenger ﷺ from among the best of Allah’s creations.  Honored with the greatest family and legacy.  And blessed with the greatest honesty. The exalted Book has been presented by Allah Himself.  He is the best of Allah’s creations.  The Prophet ﷺ invited people to the straight path. Welcomed them  to the Faith.  A number of Muhajirs and close family members believed in the Prophet ﷺ. They are exalted in status, glorious in personality and noble in deeds.

Later, we the Answars answered the call of the Prophet ﷺ.  We are the helpers of Allah and the ones who carry out the task entrusted to us by the Prophet ﷺ.  We will enter the battlefield to defend the faith.  We will fight hard until the truth wins. If they keep their true path, they have protected their property and blood.  The fight against enemies is very simple for us.  Having said this, I end my words by seeking forgiveness from Allah for me and all the believing men and women.  Assalamu Alaikum.”

The Banu Tamim were surprised to hear the reply of the Prophet ﷺ.  Their speech was about glorifying family and tribe.  However, the speech of the Sahabi (follower)was based on cosmic realities and facts about the Lord of the Universe.  Banu Tamim decided that they could not advance in speech with content and language, so they turn to poetry.

They invited their poet Sabrikhan Badr.  Sabrikhan is an expression applied to the moon. He got such a name because of his beauty and beauty of language .  He was a man of great eloquence and poetic beauty.

He started singing poetry.  Its content was also about  their glory and family pride.  The idea of some lines can be read like this.

There are no tribes in this land,

Which is as unique as ours

We have many leaders

The conquerors reign forever.

How many temples do we have?

We are brave.

How many warriors have been defeated

When the brave among us came face to face.

We fed thousands of hapless

Thousands of people at the time of famine

Even when not a single cloud is visible

For years, we have been showering to the people.

How many leaders reach us?

From all directions continuously.

As an agreement and then as an ongoing relationship

So many contracts, so many virtues.

Feeding  all the guests

With camel flesh.

……………………………….

…,………………………………

We did not bow down to anyone

All were submissive to us.

We are always one step ahead.

All the virtues in us

We won after competing!

We also won the competition.

The poem ends by enumerating the glory of the family, the glory of the tribe and the past victories.  Then the Prophet ﷺ looked for the poet Hassan bin Thabit (R).  He was not there . Prophet ﷺ immediately sent for him.  Hassan (R) was summoned to reply to the tribe that boasted through poetry.  On the way Hassan (R) came by singing some lines.  This is what Hassan (R) himself says.  ‘The Holy Prophet ﷺ called me when Banu Tamim came and boasted in front of the  Prophet ﷺ and recited the poem.  I replied to them as follows. Let’s read the idea of those lines .

“When Allah’s Messenger ﷺ came to us

We stood as  security guards

We prepared the earth for the Prophet ﷺ.

As the Prophet ﷺ came to the house

We stood as guards  armed.

Accommodated in the reputed house

It’s fame reached  ‘Jabiya and Javalani’ .

Morality and power continued

Patience and courage are the virtues.

Fihr and brothers are

Born- leaders.

They taught a good example

For the whole world to follow.

How should we worship Allah !

How much good things should we practice.

They taught us everything

And always ‘Fihr’ is the best tribe.

Proving bravery in the battle field

Bravely hoisted the victory flags.

All the goodness that came naturally

All the evils that came after.”

(The poet is referring to the provinces of Jabiya and Jawalan in Sham. The meaning is that the fame of the home reached there ).

On hearing these poems, the Banu Tamim became dumbfounded like the one who lost all their weapons.  Discourse that outshines their discourse, poetry that mars their poetry.  Content, sound and expression are all better.  All of them unanimously accepted Islam. The Prophet ﷺ presented them many gifts.

Some cultural basics  were taught to them and thus to the world.  They were convinced that coming from behind the house and calling rudely was an act of arrogance . The Holy Qur’an, chapter 49, verses four and five, refer to their said action.  The concept can be read as:  ” (And for) those who call out for you from behind the private chambers, surely most of them do not  understand. And if they wait patiently until you come out to them, it would certainly be better for them, and Allah is Moat Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

Entering a person’s house from the back door and not waiting for the householder to come out was seen by the Prophet ﷺ as a cultural degradation and admonished everyone against it.  The Prophet ﷺ even mentioned that I would have prayed against these people if it had not been for a great task from this people who stand strong against the evil power of Dajjal. It was to convey the seriousness of the matter.

Delegation from the Banu Tha’lab tribe:

Ibn Sa’ad (R) narrates.  A person from the Banu Tha’lab tribe said.  In the eighth year of Hijra, when the Prophet ﷺ was coming from Ji’rana, four of us approached Prophet ﷺ.  We reached there to announce our faith. We first arrived near the house of Ramla Bint Haris.  By that time Bilal (R) came to us.  He observed us all and asked. ‘Is there anyone else with you’?  We said, ‘No’. He went back immediately  and returned soon after.  A sumptuous ‘sarid’ was brought and entertained.  We ate.  When it was midday, the Prophet ﷺ came out. Drops of water were falling from his head.  He watched us all. We quickly went to the Prophet ﷺ.  By that time Bilal (R) performed ‘Iqamat’ for prayer.

We started talking to the Prophet ﷺ.  O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we have come as representatives of our people.  The people in the country live by their livestock.  It is part of their lifestyle.  No other means of livelihood.  O Prophet ﷺ, is there any rule that one can’t be regarded as a believer if he does not  migrate?  “No matter where you live, there will be no problem  if you keep Allah in mind” . The Prophet ﷺ replied.

Afterwards, the Prophet ﷺ led the prayer.  We prayed behind him.  We have never prayed behind someone else who prays so completely and beautifully.  After prayer, the Prophet ﷺ went inside the house. Someone said. Prophet ﷺ was performing the Sunnah prayer .  Soon the Prophet ﷺ came out and asked us. “Where are all those with you”?  All are here .We replied. What is the situation of your country?  Very rich and prosperous.  Alhamdulillah!  The Holy Prophet ﷺ replied that everything belongs to Allah.

We stayed there for a few days.  Studied the holy Qur’an and the scriptures and accepted the hospitality of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  When we were ready to say goodbye, the Prophet ﷺ.  called Bilal (R) and said.  Give gifts to them as you have given gifts to all other delegates.  Everyone was given a gift of five Ooqiya each.

We have also experienced a beautiful picture of the consideration given to each one of our group . The Holy Prophet ﷺ was saying without words how simple the  Islam is and how universal its practices and thoughts are.  An example of how Islam deals with circumstances. It is also a reply to the notion that there is no Islam without emigration, and that it is enough to follow basic values wherever possible.  Each incident deeply convinces us how much the approaches and considerations of the Prophet ﷺ influence a group.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ teaches how a group of believers should be and the considerations of leadership should be based on knowing the condition of the people.  The basic means of propagation of Islam at all times was the pure and  open lives of those who followed Islam with its great values.  What Islam has to open up to the new era is the Islamic culture that is deep rooted  in people’s lives.

Delegation  from the Thaqif tribe.

Ibn Ishaq (R) narrates.  When the Prophet ﷺ was returning from Tabuk, a group of people from the Thaqif tribe met the Prophet ﷺ.  Urwa bin Masood (R) met Prophet ﷺ before Prophet ﷺ entering Madinah.  He accepted Islam and asked permission to return to his native land for preaching.  Then the Prophet ﷺ said. “They will kill you”.  The Prophet ﷺ spoke by understanding the nature of the people.  However, Urwa’s reply was as follows.  O Prophets ﷺ, I am the most beloved among them.  They have great love and respect for me.  They only treat me well.  They treat me better than their own teenage children.

He returned home with good hope.  He believed that because of the affection shown to him by the natives, they would only respond in a positive way.  He came straight to his own house.  Invited people to goodness and Islam.  The locals didn’t like it very much.  They forgot everything and started reacting harshly.  They were not ready to listen when the beautiful words of instruction were chanted from the terrace of his own house. They attacked him with arrows and weapons.  Finally, he bid farewell to the world stricken by an arrow .  In the last moments he was asked about his condition.

Then he said.  I want to join the earlier martyrs on this path. I have absolutely no anxiety or sadness about this.  I understand that Allah has honored me by blessing  me with martyrdom.  My only desire is to be with those who sacrificed their lives in the way of Allah.  Finally the wish was fulfilled.  The Prophet ﷺ himself said that Urwa (R) is like the great person mentioned in the Yaseen chapter of the Holy Qur’an.  He would be killed by his own people and ascended to the upper world.

Months passed after Urwa’s demise .  Almost all the villages and areas around Thaqif accepted Prophet ﷺ.  The tribals also decided to accept the truth.  They decided to appoint someone of Urwa’s age to Madinah.  Accordingly, they instructed Abdu Yaleel bin Amr bin Umair to go to Madinah.  He was worried that the same experience as Urwa met with would also happen to him. Therefore, he did not agree to go alone.  He asked for some representatives to accompany him.  They accepted the request and decided to send two men each from their own tribe and from the other tribes in the treaty with Abdu Yaleel.  Accordingly, Al Hakamu bin Amr bin Rahb, Sharhabeel bin Gaylan, Usman bin Abil Asw, Aus bin Auf, and Numair bin Qarasha were sent along.  They traveled straight to Madinah.  They first reached the valley of Mughiratu bin Shu’aba.

Mugheera was very excited.  He wanted to inform the Holy Prophet ﷺ about their arrival as soon as possible.  At that time, he met Abu Bakar Siddique (R) on the way.  Siddique (R) said.  I will inform the Prophet ﷺ about this. Don’t inform anyone before.  Mugheera agreed.  Abu Bakar (R) walked straight to the Prophet ﷺ.  Reached there and announced their arrival.  By that time, Mugheera (R) went to the group. He shared with his natives  about the affection and love shown to Prophet ﷺ by  followers.  But they decided to greet  Prophet ﷺ with the greetings they knew from the Jahiliyyah period.

The Prophet’s ﷺ built special huts for them.  They were provided with a comfortable stay.  They were being facilitated to see directly the deeds and rituals performed in the masjid of the Prophet ﷺ.  They were witnessing the lives of the Prophet ﷺ and his followers.  Listened to the Holy Qur’an  and understood rituals like prayer…

The mediator between them and the Prophet ﷺ was Khalid bin Saeed (R).  He also wrote contracts for them. They would eat the food prepared for them only after Khalid bin Sa’eed ate. Finally they accepted Islam.  However, they put forward some demands.  One of them was that they should be allowed to keep the idol of Latha for three years, which they were worshiping.  When they did not get permission for three years, they resorted to the request of at least one month. The most basic thing about Islam is to worship Allah alone. Nothing should be allowed that would  tarnish the faith. If it is allowed even for a few days, it will be interpreted as part of the religion and then it will take root in them like never before.

They were also worried that by setting aside the idols they worshiped, they might incur some wrath.  The Prophet ﷺ also gave a solution to that.  It was decided to depute two men to correct such matters and to remove what was needed.  Abu Sufiyan bin Harb (R) and Mughirat bin Shu’aba (R) were entrusted with that task.

At first they could not understand the importance of prayer.  The Prophet ﷺ made them aware of its importance and greatness.  They were taught that without prayer there would be no Islamic values.

Written documents were given for them to convince them of Islamic rituals and deeds. Uthman bin Abil Asw (R) who was one among them, was made their leader.  He had a special passion for religious studies.  He specifically requested the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to pray for knowledge.  He said the same when the Prophet ﷺ asked him repeatedly.  Then Prophet ﷺ responded like this. “You have asked something that no one in your group has asked.  You are the leader of this society.  You are the one to lead all”.  There is also a report that he asked the Prophet ﷺ for a Mushaf and the Prophet ﷺ presented it to him.

Arrival of Jarood bin Mu’alla (R) and Salamat bin Iyal (R).

Jarood (R) said to Salamat (R).  A person has appeared in Tihama.  He claims to be a prophet. if he is the prophet himself, then those who go first and believe in him, will have glory.  Sometimes he may be the Messenger of Allah, prophecies by Prophet Jesus (A). Jarud (R) was a Christian with good knowledge of the scriptures.

Both decided to leave for Madinah.  Then Jarood (R) said.  Let’s each keep three questions in our mind. We should not share our questions with each other . When we reach there, we can ask about the questions in our mind. Thus we can understand if he is a real Prophet or not. Both of them reached there . Jarood (R) started asking. What message have you brought ? The Prophet ﷺ said:  “The essence of the mission is that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah and I am the Messenger and servant of Allah.  We have nothing to do with any kind of deity or idol that is worshipped.  Perform the prayer at its time. Give charity to deserving people. Perform fasting in Ramadan. Perform Hajj at the holy Ka’aba”.  “Whoever does good, it is for his own soul, and whoever does evil, it is against it . Your Lord is not least unjust to His servants.” (Chapter Al Fussilat 46).Prophet ﷺ added this .

Then Jarood (R) said.  If you are the Prophet of Allah, can you tell us the questions that we have hidden in our minds.  Suddenly the Prophet ﷺ became silent as if he was falling asleep.  After that, Prophet ﷺ said.  Are these the questions you have hidden in your mind Jarud?

One is about blood or revenge during the Jahiliyyah period . Second, about swearing in the Jahiliyya period.   The third is about “Maniha” or gift.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ told him all the three in detail.  He was convinced that these were the same questions he had in mind.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ then spoke about the thoughts in the mind of Salamat (R).

One, about idolatry.  Two, about Sabib Day.  It was a holy day during Jahiliyyah.  Three, about ‘Aqlul Hajeen’ or Diya. The Prophet ﷺ explained all the three . Then described which of the   customs are lawful  and which are not.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ taught that in Islamic culture there is a night more virtuous than a thousand months and it should be expected in the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan.  The sign explained that the night in question would be very quiet and the following morning’s sun would be less flaming.

Both of them were convinced that this is the true Prophet when they got explanation for the questions they kept in their mind . Both of them recited the words of testimony and declared Islam.

When Jarud (R) was about to start his return journey, he inquired the Prophet ﷺ whether he could get a vehicle.  Then the Prophet ﷺ did not have a vehicle that could be presented to him.  Jarood (R) asked if stray animals could be used as vehicles ?.  The Prophet ﷺ discouraged it and taught that stealing others property will lead to Hellfire.

He requested the Prophet ﷺ to pray for the unity of his countrymen.  The Prophet ﷺ specifically prayed that Allah unite his countrymen and shower blessings on their lands and seas.  He asked the Prophet ﷺ ‘from which property in his country should he collect Zakat.  The Prophet ﷺ enquired what was his country or what were the resources there.  ‘Our country accommodates all.  Its plants are medicinal.  Its wind is gentle.  Date palms are very fruitful.  Hearing this, the Prophet ﷺ responded. “Give  camels as charity  there .  Camels get pregnant and get increased in number .             Then Salama (R) asked.  From which property in my country should I receive as Zakat?  “What is the situation in your country”?  My country is also prosperous.  Its palms bear good fruit.  “Give sheep as charity’.  They are rich in milk. Their fur is used for cloth and ornamentation . There is blessing in their offspring.

There is also like this in the narration of Ibn Ishaq (R). Jarood (R)returned home.  Lived as a disciplined person in faith and deed.  After the death of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, when the problem of apostates came, he remained steadfast in his faith and engaged in preaching activities.  When a number of people left Islam under the leadership of Gharoor bin Mundir, Jarood (R) took a strong stand and loudly proclaimed the firmness of his faith in Allah.

How did the Holy Prophet ﷺ inquire about the conditions of each group?  What evolutions did their return shape?  Such was the growth and development of the Islamic message that reached their lands.  All this is recorded in history clearly and vividly.  We can read this along with thousands of documents that the Holy Prophet ﷺ was a historical figure. It is worthy to  be mentioned that the discipline of the Companions was direct from the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  Even today’s professedly modern and progressive society is falling into such blind belief when those mentioned in legends and stories become saints and cult figures.

Had they had the opportunity to read and study the Prophet ﷺ who lived in the full light of history, they would have been convinced of the authenticity of this personality if they had come to direct historical research.

What we have to read are the ideas of some of the lines that Jarud (RA) wrote, highlighting the greatness and importance of true faith.

The idea of Jarood’s poem can be understood like this…

Establishing the faith in my arteries

I stood firmly

Will you give my message to the Prophet?

As long as I am alive, I am on your way

You are the protector of all creatures.

To the whole earth and to the messenger of Wahy

Though my house is not in Yatrib

I am with him as his companion

I am in harmony with everyone

Who followed the agreement.

All those who are separated from him

We also sever our ties with them.

Those who loved him and took him with him

We do not think of any favour other than his pleasure

I will defend

I will take up the sword and stand as a warrior

I loved Prophet ﷺ so much

And against those who oppose him…

I will defend myself

Any adversity will affect me.”

His lines were the proof of his deep connection with faith and the Prophet ﷺ.  He was saying through many words and lines that he is ready to stand by the Prophet’s ﷺ side in any hot situation and to sacrifice everything for love.  Salama, who came with him, also composed poetry to share his heart.  Let us simply read the idea of   his lyrics.

A group of men

who crossed the mirage and desert.

When he left the plains and continued his journey

Everyone came who forgot their fatigue.

Stretching as far as the eye can see

Those who are swift in the desert will move.

He also supported the brave like stars

The horses’ hooves are fast

In heart-breaking fear of the Hereafter

In order not to be afraid of the Last Day.

.             Apart from its primary idea, the    Poetry has the power to capture the ancient times, language, environment, culture and the feeling of the situations that arose.  If we take a careful journey through the poems quoted above, we can study the conceptual environment, spiritual thoughts, and cultural exchanges in the conversations formed by the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  It was not a mere mantra or a prayer that was seen and presented as religion.  Rather, Islam was preached at its primary stage with a core of comprehensive visions and thoughts that touch all levels of life and give insight into the vast real life beyond the visible world.

Religion did not forbid  expressions or descriptions.  Expressions of values were encouraged and considered vehicles of goodness.  Poems of Jarood and Salama  share so many different thoughts and quests.

The Delegation under Judam…

Imam al-Tabrani (R) and Ibn Sa’ad (R) narrate that Umair bin Ma’bad al-Judami said.  Rifa’at bin Za’id bin Umair Al Judami (R) and a representative from Banu Dubaib came to the Prophet ﷺ. They presented a slave to the Prophet ﷺ and accepted Islam.  Holy Prophet ﷺ wrote some messages for them.  The gist of the content reads as follows.  “This is from the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad ﷺ, to Rifa’at bin Za’id (R) and the community he represents. Those of you who believe and reach the Prophet’s ﷺ guidance, are the group of Allah. They are the lovers and followers of the Prophet ﷺ. Those who refuse or reject this mission, they will have special security for two months only. This message is accepted by the people. They all believed and accepted the Prophet’s ﷺ guidance.

Tabrani (R) added: After a short period Dihyatul Kalbi (R), the messenger of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, was returning from the Emperor Qaiser.  When they reached Harrathu Rajla, Hunaid bin Aus and his son appeared before them . Dihya (R) was robbed of all his belongings.  Rifa’atu bin Saeed (R) and his group came to know this information. They rushed towards there.  Nu’man bin Abu Jual (R) from the tribe of Lubab joined him.  They caught the assailants.  Eventually the assailants were killed.  Nu’aman bin Juali (R) was injured in the knees by an arrow from Qurrat bin Ashkar Allulami.

We are reading events and experiences that remind us again and again where the interventions of the Holy Prophet ﷺ reached within a short period of time.  At a time when there were no systematic technical systems or communication facilities, activities were managed simultaneously at different levels.  The fact that construction, defense, survival, and the interplay between ideas are going on in parallel without budging an inch from the real path. This seems to be impossible even at the age of new governmental systems.

Rewrite an entire nation with just one visit, cement a nation’s position with just a short message, overcome overwhelming protests with just a few snaps of the fingers.  Correct  superstitions that have been established for ages to the right direction by passing a word and a thought.  What kind of processes are taking place through the contact and reception of the Holy Prophet ﷺ?

The arrival of the Jarm Delegation.

Sa’ad bin Murrah (R) narrates from his father.  Two people, Asqau bin Shurayh bin Suraim (R) and Howda bin Amr bin Yazeed (R) came to the Holy Prophet ﷺ. They accepted Islam.

In another explanation of Amr bin Salama (R) it is like this. They Asqau and Howda) came to the Prophet ﷺ. Learned the holy Qur’an and fulfilled  their needs.  They asked when it was time to go back: ‘Who should lead our prayers and other religious matters’. Holy Prophet ﷺ said. “Those among you who know the Qur’an best”. When they reached our home and enquired about the person who knew the Qur’an best. They selected me.I was a boy then.  They appointed me as the Imam or the person to lead the prayer . I myself was called to lead the prayers in the masjid and to lead the funeral prayer if someone died.

Another narration from Amr bin Salama (R) was quoted by Imam Bukhari (R) and Ibn Sa’ad (R):  ‘We were sitting near a water source on the way .  During the discussion the matter of the Prophet ﷺ came up. Someone said that the person claims to be the Prophet.  Claiming to receive a special message from Allah, and to be a messenger, appointed by Allah to the world.  As I have the habit of memorizing everything I hear, I memorized every verse I heard from the holy Qur’an.

People were waiting for the victory of Islam.  Many thought of following Islam and the Prophet ﷺ, if Prophet ﷺ succeeds. Prophet ﷺ got  victory over Makkah.  Countries started coming to Islam one by one.  My father along with those in our province went to the Holy Prophet ﷺ  to accept Islam .  Stayed there for some time. My father met me on the way back and  told me  that Muhammad ﷺ was the true Prophet and reminded me of the rules and instructions he had learned.

There was in the teachings  of the Holy Prophet ﷺ that , when it is time for prayer, one should perform Adan and the one who knows the Qur’an best should lead the prayer.  When they examined who would be the the person who knows the Quran best , they selected me.  I was taught  other principles related to prayer and they assigned me the duty of leading prayer.  I was only six years old.  I had only a small dress to wear.  When going into prostration, the part of my leg would be exposed.  Noticing this, a woman in our area asked the people to provide at least a comfortable garment for the person, reciting the holy  Qur’an. They gave me a Bahraini Qameez.  I have never had a dress like that which made me so happy.

Arrival of Jarir Bin Abdullah Al Bujali (R)…

Imam Tabrani (R) quotes: Jarir bin Abdullah Al Bujali (R) himself says.  The Prophet ﷺ sent a person for me.  accepting the invitation, I went there  and asked Prophet ﷺ to what principles Prophet ﷺ  was inviting people ? “Bear witness that there is no deity to be worshiped but Allah, and that I am the appointed Messenger of Allah.  Believe in Allah and the Last Day.  Everything happens only according to the will of Allah.  Perform five time prayers correctly.  Perform obligatory charity and fast in Ramadan.  All believers desire goodness and obey the right ruler even if he is a black slave.  Holy Prophet ﷺ explained.

Imam Ahmad narrates.  Jarir bin Abdullah (R) himself says.  When I reached Madinah, I changed all my dirty clothes and put on nice clothes.  I stopped the vehicle and walked towards the masjid.  Then the Prophet ﷺ was preaching.  I said Salaam and greeted him.  Everyone in the audience looked at me very curiously.  Then I asked the person next to me.  Did the Prophet ﷺ say anything about me?  He said.  Yes, the good news was told: “, through this door will enter a good-looking, good-looking person.  He is the epitome of beauty.  When I heard this, I praised Allah.

Barau bin Asib (ra) says.  One day we were with the companions of the Prophet ﷺ.  Most of the people  were  from Yemen.  Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ said.  “Behold, a handsome man will pass this way.  Then everyone wanted to be one of their family.  Immediately a man got out of the vehicle and came to the Prophet ﷺ.  He grabbed Prophet’s ﷺ hand and made a deal.  Proclaimed faith and joined us.  The Prophet ﷺ enquired the name of the visitor. On hearing the name, Jarir bin Abdillah, Prophet ﷺ  drew him near and blessed him. Prophet ﷺ  patted  from top of his head  special prayers were offered for him and his family.  Jarir (R1) humbly bowed his head at this care received from the Prophet’s presence.  A special mat was spread for him.  Then the Prophet ﷺ said:  ‘If the nobles of the people come to you, treat them with special respect.’

A covenant was made with the Prophet ﷺ regarding Hijrah or emigration.  The Prophet ﷺ reminded us to have goodwill towards everyone.  Jarir (R) was hosted by a companion named Farwatu Bin Amr Al Bayali (R).

The Delegation under Banul Harith bin Ka’ab…

When Banul Harith bin Ka’ab of Najran yielded to Khalid bin Walid (R), he informed the Prophet ﷺ.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ asked him to come to Madinah with a group from there. Khalid (R) started for Madinah immediately. Prominent leaders: Qays bin Hussain (R), Yazeed Bin Abdul Madan (R), Yazeed Bin Abdul Muhajjal (R), Abdullah Bin Khurad (R), Shaddad Bin Abdullah Al Khanani (R), Amr Bin Abdullah (R) and Khalid (R)  ) were with Khalid (R).

The Prophet ﷺ welcomed them and asked.  “How were you able to defeat your enemies in the past?  What power did you have to defeat them”?  Then  said.  We have not defeated anyone.  “Have you not defeated and conquered those who came to wage  war with you?  Yes, how you managed  that?  How did you get the power you had”?.  We were united.  We were not divided or disagreed for any reason.  We were not ready to attack anyone.  The Prophet ﷺ replied: ‘yes’.

Then they returned to their own land.  Qays Bin Husain (R) was appointed as their leader. The Prophet ﷺ left the world before four months had passed since they arrived their country.

History mentions a friendly visit led by Khalid bin Walid (R) after they returned to their areas. It was aimed at strengthening the tie in the said area and imparting the correct Islamic teachings. The messages written by the Prophet ﷺ for Khalid (R) and the local residents are also recorded in history.

In that letter, there were details of the local people who accepted Islam under the leadership of Khalid (R) and instructions to Khalid (R) how to deal with them.  It had not forgotten to mention some important promises and   warnings to be conveyed to them.

We will be surely amazed when we read about the different parts of the world where Islam reached within a short span of just 23 years.  Each chapter exhorts us that there is no compromise in the basic ideals and that preaching should be carried out with awareness of circumstances.

Those who preached Islam in different areas, were righteous who led exemplary life . No other ideology can claim such a vision .

The Delegation led by Hajjaj bin Ilat Al Sulami (R).

Ibn Asakir (R) and Ibn Abiddunya (R) narrat, Wasilatu bin Al-Asqau (R) said.  An incident led to the embrace of Islam by Hajjaj bin Ilat Asulami (R) can be read as follows.  He set out for Makkah with a group from his area. On the way, they reached a scary valley.  Can’t move forward at all. Soon he gathered his group and prayed . ‘Protect me and my group from all kinds of demonic powers! Lead us to our land safely’.  Then a verse is heard.

Ya Ma’sharal Jinny val insi…..

(O community of jinns and men, if you can break through the boundaries of the heavens and the earth, go forth. You can’t without the support of a great power) They reached Makkah safely.  He shared his travel experience with the people of Makkah. When they recited the incorporeal words they heard, those who heard them understood that they were the words of the holy Qur’an.  It was the 33rd verse of Surah Al-Rahman, Chapter 55 of the Holy Quran.

The people of Makkah who were astonished asked: ‘How long have you been a sabi or new religionist?  Those are the verses from the scripture of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who  claims prophethood.  Then Abu Kilab said. ‘This is something that I and my companions and  clearly heard.  How can we deny it?  They went to Madina where the Prophet ﷺ was then. Reaching there all of accepted Islam.

How does the  music of true path reach people?  Those who believe that mere theory and religious practice are the only means of instruction,  are glossing over many of the more enjoyable parts of religion.  Different parts of the Prophet’s ﷺ life influenced the world in different ways.  The miraculous events revealed in his life were an important part of Islamic teachings.

A comprehensive study of how a culture and a faith was established and spread in society would lead us to the different facets and character of the Prophet’s ﷺ life.  We can understand from the usage of the enemies how clearly the Qur’anic texts were  understood by  people whose mother tongue was Arabic.  The above incident is also proof that the words of the Qur’an had the ability to separate and understand the words of the Qur’an beyond language.

The delegation from Hadar Mawt.

Ibn Sa’ad (R) narrates.

Along with the Kindha group, a group of delegates from Hadramaut also came to the Prophet ﷺ . They were Banu Walia kings of Hadar Mawt.  Jamad, Mishraq, Miqwas and Abla’a were prominent . Miqwas (RA) had  stammer when he spoke. The Prophet ﷺ put food in his mouth and it was cured.

In a narration that Ibn Sa’ad (R) quotes from Abu Ubaidah (R)  like this.  The delegation of Miqwas bin Ma’adi Kariba (R) came to the Prophet ﷺ.  After they reached their country, a man named Miqwas (R) who was in the group became weak in the muscles of his face.  From there a group came to the Prophet  ﷺ .  O Prophet ﷺ, our ruler, the leader of the Arabs, has suffered weakness in his facial muscles. If you prescribe some remedy.  The Prophet ﷺ prescribed a treatment by heating the needle.  He got relief.

Ibn Sa’ad (R) narrates that Amr bin Muhajir al-Kindi (R) said.  A woman named Tanha bint Kulaib, a resident of Hadar Mawt, sewed and made a fine garment.  It was handed over to his son Kulaib bin Asad Al Kulaibi.  He came to the Prophet ﷺ and presented the gift and embraced Islam.  When he reached Madina, he sang a beautiful poem.  Its meaning can be read as follows.

He is the best of the best among those who wear shoes

Holy Prophet ﷺ,  I came here.

The valley of the rugged Hadar Mawth,

Crossing hills and passing a long way .

We crossed the desert on camels

Came quickly that we may reach you early

We spent two months on the way

Desiring  reward .

Holy prophet who prophesied by

The Torah.

We read about the arrival of a group of people who spoke about the Holy Prophet ﷺ with many aspects together.  Traveling in search of the Prophet ﷺ.  Knowing the news recorded in the Vedas. Accepting the prayers and instructions of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, experiencing the spiritual healing firsthand.  We have read the story of a mission team where many things came together.  We are reading a clear answer to the question of how so many people and countries came to the Islam in a short period of time.

The delegation of Hakam bin Hasan (R). Hasan (R)says. ‘We approached the Prophet ﷺ as a group of seventh or ninth’ . We informed the Prophet ﷺ said that we had come wishing for prayers for well-being. The Prophet ﷺ  prayed for blessings for us. We were instructed to follow certain things. We spent a few days there. The Prophet ﷺ   led special prayer or Friday prayer on Friday. Friday sermon was performed holding a stick or a willow in his hand. After praising God, Prophet ﷺ gave special advice like this: “you may not be able to perform perfectly what the  sick people are instructed . But keep to your faith and  believe happy with glad tidings.

The delegation of Himyar. Quotes Imam Hamadani  in his book, “Ansab”. The Prophet ﷺ sent a message to Haris bin Abdu Kulal and his brother Nuaim. Haris (R) came to Madinah with the delegation and converted to Islam. The Prophet ﷺ  spread his sheet and received him. The Holy Prophet ﷺ said this to the audience  before the  arrival of Haris . “A man with a cheerful face who was born in the lineage of gentlemen will pass through this”. This incident, which was quoted in Takmila, is different from what Imam Ibn Hajar (R) quoted in Al-Isaaba which says that Harris (R) converted to Islam and remained in Yemen. Ibn Sa’ad (R) says: Malik bin Murara Al-Rahawi, the messenger of King Himyar, came before the Prophet ﷺ with Abdu Kulal’s sons, Harris and Numan.  It has been said that this arrival was in the ninth year of the Hijra, the month of Ramadan immediately after the Prophet ( ﷺ ) returned from Tabukh. The Prophet( ﷺ ) accepted them warmly and instructed Bilal (R) to provide them with the necessary facilities. The Himyar was a group to whom the  Prophet (ﷺ )  gave more important messages. The Prophet (ﷺ ) was particularly interested in evaluating the arrival of each region and the tribes according to their status  and caring for them accordingly. Madinah was organized and trained for that.

The Holy Prophet ﷺ wrote a message for the Himyars.  Its contents were as follows.  “I congratulate you. Your representative came here today on his way back from Rome. He informed me that you have accepted Islam and are taking a strong stand against polytheism. Allah has guided you. You must obey Allah and the Messenger ﷺ and do good. You must maintain prayer and give alms.  Give  one-fifth of your wealth to Allah, and one-fifth for the Prophet ﷺ without fail   ”

The ‘Niswab’ of a camel is 5.  From 5 to 9 One goat.  10 to 14 two goats.  15 to 19 three goats.  20 to 24 four  goats.  From 25 to 35 a camel or a 2-year-old goat.  36 to 45 a 2-year-old camel.  46 to 60 a 3-year-old camel.  61 to 75 a 4-year-old camel.  76 to 90 2 year old two camels.  91 to 120 two 3-year-old camels.  A two-year-old camel for every 40 thereafter.  3 year old camel for every 50

The ‘Niswab’ of cattle is 30. From 30 to 39,  one-year-old calf.  40 to 59 2-year-old heifer.  60 to 69 one- year old 2 calves.  70 to 79 a two-year-old heifer and a one-year-old calf.  Then one two-year-old calf for every 30.  and a 2-year-old calf for every 40.

The Niswab of the goat is 40. 40 to 120 a goat. 121 to 200 2 goats. 201 to 300 3 goats. 301 to 400 4 goats. 401 to 500 5 goats. For every 100 that comes after, one goat will be given. This is a system of charity prescribed by Allah for the believers. In addition, the more good you have, the better reward . He becomes  a believer who follows  the above instructions and openly took a stand against polytheism. He has the protection of God. Those who receive faith from Jewish Christians have their own reward. People who maintain Jewish, Christian beliefs, can live with taxes and make a living. They also have general protection and security. If anyone shows enmity  to Allah and His Messenger, they will have to suffer for that. The Messenger of Allah sends His representatives to Surat Siyasan. The Prophet ﷺ instructs them to treat his representatives well when they reach there . Mu’adh ibn Jabal (R), Abdullah bin Saeed (R), Malik bin Ubada (R), Ukbat bin Namir (R) and Malik bin Murara were the representatives . They are the ones who collect charity and so on. Their leader will be Mu’adh bin Jabal (R). Send him back only with satisfaction.

One more part of the letter sent by the Prophet ﷺ to Himyar can be read as follows .

“After the introductory remarks. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) bears witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. I was told by Malik bin Murarah Al Rahawi (R) that you believed from the Himyars first. It was also known that you confronted the polytheists. Glad tidings for you. You do not deceive or belittle one another. I advise you to do good. I am the leader of the rich and the poor. The Zakath is forbidden for the Prophet ﷺ and for his family.  It is the right of the wayfarers.

Malik (R) narrated the stories and kept the secret.  I wish you well.  I am sending you a group of the best of my friends.  They are superior in “Deen” and knowledge.  They will become your guardians.  You should treat them well.  Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu.”

These are the records and notes of bilateral relations conducted by the Prophet ﷺ 1400 years ago.  Such inscribed documents are of great historical importance.  It is also a great document to understand the history of that time, the manner of discourses, the transparency of the ideas put forward by the Prophet ﷺ and ultimately what the Holy Prophet ﷺ was aiming for through the correspondence.

A group of intellectually and spiritually equipped people accompanied the Prophet ﷺ.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ was able to send them as representatives to each country and country with confidence.  They were experts in the execution of missions, honest in carrying out the assigned responsibilities and able to copy the prophetic qualities to life and convey them.

Such events prove that the world   recognized in the Holy Prophet ﷺ the personality, ideas and organizational power to send delegations to a country  authentically, as well as to receive such groups. The Holy Prophet ﷺ was not a ruler as read in political terms.  In purely military terms, the Prophet ﷺ had no such military organization. However the world had to accept and bow before the Prophet ﷺ.

A group from the Banu Hanifa

The narration of Ibn Ishaq (R) can be read as follows.  ‘A group of Banu Hanifa, including Musaylima, a false prophet, arrived in Madinah.  At first they stayed in the house of a woman from the Banu Najjar tribe.  Covering Musaylima with a cloth, the group took him along and came to the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  The Prophet ﷺ was holding a piece of palm stick in his hand . They told  the Prophet ﷺ about the person who was with them. The Holy Prophet ﷺ replied that he will not give the man even that piece of stick.

This is how it is seen in another narration of Ibn Ishaq (R).  An elderly man from the Banu Hanifa tribe of Yamama said: ‘The Banu Hanifa came to the Prophet ﷺ asking Musaylima to stay in the tent . After talking to the Holy Prophet ﷺ, they informed the Holy Prophet ﷺ that there was a man with them who had been entrusted  to keep their belongings.  The Prophet ﷺ then responded that ‘it is not a place of danger for you’.  The Prophet ﷺ also instructed them to share the advice they received to the man who had been left behind. After all, the group returned to Banu Hanifa. On the  midway, Musailima behaved  in a strange way. He argued that the Prophet ﷺ had included him in the mission and that he himself was the prophet.  He argued that the idea of the Prophet ﷺ’s words  saying that ‘there is no danger for you in that place ‘ , was also an indication that he was a part in the mission.  He recited some rhyming Arabic phrases containing ideas that were contrary to the Qur’an.  He argued that it was for him to say something similar to the Qur’an.

Afterwards, he sent a letter to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.  He mentioned in the letter that he also shares the prophethood and can carry half and half and the Quraish are not righteous.  Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ sent him a letter back.  Its contents were as follows.  “Beginning in the name of Allah, the Merciful and the Beneficent . The Messenger of Allah  writing to Musailima . Peace be upon those who follow the right path. Allah is the Sovereign of this earth. People of His will will inherit it. The final victory is for those who follow the laws of Allah.”

The fact that the people who claimed prophethood during or after the time of the Holy Prophet ﷺ were not able to establish any of their ideas or establish the claim that he was a prophet, is also a proof of the truthfulness of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  If the claim that the Holy Prophet ﷺ was receiving a message from Allah and that it was accompanied by sufficient documents and Qur’anic verses was not acceptable or truthful, the greatest trick used by the opponents was to claim that they also receive a divine message. The fact that it was never possible . It is the greatest proof that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a true prophet.  Let us come a little further to the narrations about Musailima.

A narration of Abu Dawud Al Tayalisi (R) is like this.  Ibn Nawah and Ibn Uthal visited Prophet ﷺ as the messengers of  Musailima with his letter.  Ibn Mas’ud (R) says.  The Prophet ﷺ spoke to them: ‘Are you both in the faith of Musailima?  Or those who hold the belief that he is a prophet?  They said.  Yes. “If it was not fair to kill the messengers, you will be condemned to that punishment”. The Prophet ﷺ let them go.

Imam Bukhari (R) quotes from Abu Raja Al-Utaridi (R).  We went to Musailima. He was inviting  to fire or hell.  During Jahiliyyah period we were idol worshippers .We used to avoid our idol when we see  the next one. Otherwise  we will take a heap of earth smear milk on it . And then circumambulate it.  When the month of Rajab comes, the tips of the weapons are removed.  The sharp part of all arrows and weapons shall be untied and set aside.  Or if it is a month in which war is forbidden, we will lay aside all our weapons.

In a narration reported by Nafi’u bin Jubair (R) on the authority of Ibn Abbas (R):  During the time of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, Musaylima came to the Prophet ﷺ with a group.  And then said.  If prophethood is given to me after Prophet Muhammad ﷺ then I will follow Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.  At this time Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas was with the Prophet ﷺ. The Holy Prophet ﷺ took out a piece of palm stick that was in his hand and showed it to him and said. ” I will not give you even this stick if you ask.  It is not possible for you to go beyond what Allah has decreed for you”.

May Allah destroy you if you turn your back on this message!  I see you as part of a vision I had in a dream.  When Abu Huraira (R) was asked about the meaning of what was shown to the Prophet ﷺ in a dream, he said:  The Prophet ﷺ said. “In my sleep I saw two gold bangles in my hand.  That presence troubled me.  I thought about it.  Then I got the divine message to blow on it.  Accordingly I blew on it and both flew away and disappeared.  I interpreted these two bracelets as the two fakers entering the scene after me.  Those two are Aswad Al Anasi from Sana’a and Musailima from Yamama.

In another narration of Bukhari (R) and Muslim (R) it is like this.  Abu Huraira (R) reported that the Holy Prophet ﷺ said.  I saw in my dream that I had received the treasures of the world.  Two bangles  gave me a hard time.  I received a message from Allah to blow on them.  And so they both flew away and disappeared.  I interpreted this as two fakers.  One is from Sana’a and the second is from Yamama.

We have read about the history of people who falsely claimed to be prophets and what the Holy Prophet ﷺ had about them.  These are another evidence that the claim of prophethood of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is true and confirmed by proof .

The Delegation from  Khawlan

In the month of  Sha’ban, the tenth year of Hijra, a group of ten people came to the Prophet ﷺ.  They said: We believe in Allah and accept the messengers of Allah ﷺ.  We are the representatives of our people.  We came here after a long ride on camel through rough roads and deserted paths.  All bounties belong to Allah and Rasool ﷺ.  We came to visit you.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ greeted them in return. “Every step your vehicle has taken has been recorded for you.  You said you came to visit me.  Those who visit me in Madinah will be my neighbors in the Hereafter”.

Then they said.  We have no loss because of our journey.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ continued his conversation with them. The Prophet ﷺ asked.  “What did you do to your Ammu Anas”?  It was the name of the idol they were worshipping.  It is in great pain and loss.  Allah blessed us with the great visions that you brought! After reaching there we will remove that idol .  There is only an elderly woman and a man with Ammu Anas now.  Ammu Anas will be removed if we return.  We have suffered a lot of damage and loss because of that idol. Then the Prophet ﷺ asked.  “What was your main loss from that”?

We have experienced many difficulties in times of poverty.  One morning 100 of cattle were slaughtered to please  Ammu Anas.  Or sacrifices have been made.  All slaughtered animals will be given to wild animals .  Actually, we were more hungry than them.  So if we get rain, we say that it is because of Ammu Anas that we got rain.

They spoke at length to the Holy Prophet ﷺ about the offerings made to the gods from livestock and agriculture.  If we cultivate our land, we will keep a part of it for Ammu Anas.  Another part will be determined for Allah.  If the wind leans towards Ammu Anas, that part will be given to god. If the wind leans to the side assigned for Allah, it will be given to Ammu Anas.  After hearing this, the Holy Prophet ﷺ recited  the Qur’anic verse that was revealed in this regard.  It was the 136th verse of the 6th chapter, Al-An’am.

The meaning can be read as:  “And they set apart a portion for Allah out of What and  Allah has created of tilth and cattle, and they say : “This is for Allah.  And this to the gods with whom they have made partners.”  And nothing that is for their partners will reach Allah. And whatever is (set apart ) to Allah, reaches their partners,  evil  is that which they judge. ”

The Prophet ﷺ was listening to the words of the Khawlan group .  They said.  We used to make decisions believing in the deity Ammu Anas.  Then we heard a sound like talking .  Immediately the Prophet ﷺ intervened and said. “Then it will be demons who have spoken to you”.  They continued their talk :  O Prophet ﷺ, now we have realized that there is no benefit or harm from it . It does not know who  worships it and who does not .  The Prophet ﷺ replied, “Praise be to Allah Who guided you and honored you with Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.  They asked the Prophet ﷺ about religious matters.  He taught them the holy Qur’an and religious laws .   The Holy Prophet ﷺ advised them to keep the contract, to carry out the tasks entrusted to them correctly, not to attack anyone, and to approach the neighbor in a good manner.  They were admonished that violence would turn into darkness in the Hereafter and be punished.

They lived in Ramla’s house. The Prophet ﷺ made for giving them good hospitality. After a few days they asked permission to go back.  The Prophet ﷺ sent them away with a gift of money of around twelve Oqiya .  As soon as they reached their homeland , they kept the agreement and did what the Prophet ﷺ commanded and refrained from what he forbade.  They themselves removed Ammu Anas.

We have read an accurate historical part of one of the most transparent discourses of the Holy Prophet ﷺ to a group.  Primarily these teachings help us to understand the priorities of what should be established in a nation.  Basically other rituals and deeds need to be told only after the formation of true faith in them.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ instilled in them the moral integrity and sense of justice that should be present in human beings without any compromise.  Behind the emphasis on adherence to contract and consideration of trust lies the bones of a proper social construct.  The prophetic lesson that truth leads to goodness, goodness to heaven, untruth to iniquity and iniquity to hell, can also be read here.

How beautifully the Holy Prophet ﷺ taught these guests a transformative chemistry of eradicating the superstitions deeply embedded in people by making them aware of it.  There are many people today who do not realize that all things worshiped besides the One God are creations and have no proper existence.  It is important to creat awareness in them.

The Delegation of Dariyeen.

When the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) was returning from Tabuk, a ten-member Dariyeen group of delegation approached the Prophet (ﷺ). Tamim and Nu’im, the two sons of Aws bin Khazraj, Yazid bin Qais, Fakih bin Nu’man, Abu Hind, Tayyib, Hani bin Habib, sons of Darr, and Murra and Azeez, sons of Malik, were in that group.  All of them accepted Islam.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ renamed Tayyib (R) as Abdullah and Azeez (R) as Abdur Rahman.  Hani (R) presented the Holy Prophet ﷺ with horses and a gold-decorated cloth .  The Prophet ﷺ accepted the gifts and presented them to Abbas bin Abdul Muthalib (R).  When he received Abbas (R) asked what he should do with it. Take the part of gold from it to make  ornaments and give it to the women to wear.  Sell the silk in it and spend with its price.  Abbas (R) sold it to a Jewish brother for 8000 dirhams.  Tamim (R) said.  I have neighbors from Rome.  Two villages of Hibara and Bayt Ainun belong to them.  If you (the Prophet ﷺ) conquer them you must hand over both of them to me. The  Prophet ﷺ responded that both are for him.  During the time of Abu Bakar (R), when those provinces came into possession, they were given to Tamim (R) and the documents were handed over.

What different types of discourses, thoughts and discussions are being conducted by each of the delegation in the presence of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  Political, economic and business considerations all come into it.  Gifts were given to the Prophet ﷺ with royal treatment and the Holy Prophet ﷺ accepted them respectfully.  But the Prophet ﷺ accept gifts and share them with others to convince them that none of these benefits is his ultimate goal.

It is not enough to simply read such events as a piece of history.  We need to learn to distinguish the methods, thoughts and ideas that shaped each approach and stance .  If the Holy Prophet ﷺ was striving for a material goal politically, economically or in power, many moments passed in the life of the Prophet to turn towards them.  All that time the Holy Prophet ﷺ adopted the methodology of renunciation and simplicity.  All this was to convince again and again that the Holy Prophet ﷺ interfered with causes and discourses only to establish a great idea and goal.

Until the Holy Prophet ﷺ passed away, the Dariyyin representatives stayed in Madinah.  A hundred Vasaq (وسق. 60 صاع of the best dates from the wealth of Khiber were set apart for them.

Such an approach was to show in practice how to arrange housing in a social structure and how to deal with immigrant groups in need of settlement.

Daus reporter group

A group of four hundred men from the tribe of Daus came to the Prophet’s ﷺ house. Prophet ﷺ welcomed them saying “Welcome to those who are high ly trustworthy, sweet-spoken and handsome.”

Ibn Ishaq (R) narrated that Tufail bin Amr (R) who belonged to the tribe of Daus said that he  joined the holy Prophet ﷺ  when he was in Makkah.  A group of men from the Quraish went to Thufail , who was a wise man, a poet, and a noble man. They warned Suhail  about the Prophet ﷺ.  Oh ! Tufail, that person who has appeared among us has divided our group and made problems . His words have the effect of  black magic.  Siblings, spouses and parents will be separated.  So you should not approach that person.  We are concerned about you.  Tufail (R) says.  I followed the advice of the Quraish.  When going to and returning  from the holy Ka’aba, I used to put a piece of cloth in my ears.  This was done so that even a word of the person  would not be heard .

One day, when the Prophet ﷺ went to the courtyard of the masjid, he prayed from there.  I slowly approached.  I could not help but listen to some of his words.  A very sweet conversation.  Then I thought about myself.  Alas!  What man am I? Being intelligent , poetic and smart Why should I  not listen to the conversation of that person. I myself can distinguish between good and bad!  If it’s good to hear, accept or reject, that’s all!

I stayed there for a while.  When the Prophet ﷺ turned and walked home, I followed.  came near the Prophet ﷺ.  Then I said.  The people  told me to keep away from you .  So I traveled without listening to your words .  Finally couldn’t stop listening to it. I felt your  words were so sweet.  I want to tell you something.  Oh Prophet ﷺ introduce Islam to me.  After that, the Prophet ﷺ recited a little from the holy Qur’an.  The sweetness of the words of the holy Qur’an greatly influenced me.  I have never heard a word so sweet and a thought as noble as that presented by the Prophet ﷺ.  I accepted it and embraced Islam.  Then I said to the Prophet ﷺ.  I am an acceptable person in the country.  People will come to what I invite.  I will invite them to Islam when I reach there.  Then I need evidence  to make it more acceptable.  The Prophet ﷺ offered a special prayer for him.

The position of the Quraish was a major crisis faced in Mecca during the early days of Islamic preaching.  They also worked to prevent those coming from outside from coming in contact with the Prophet ﷺ.  Part of it was the conversation with Tufaili (R).  But who can withhold the light of truth?  How can you cover the light of the sun.  How can you turn a blind eye and deny the day?  It will stay clear.  Will rise and stand. Will shine  brilliantly.

Even as we read along with the current opposition , we have something to think about and share.  The value and magnificence of Islamic philosophy cannot be destroyed by mere accusations or refutations.  Truth will be proved as truth, dharma will emerge as dharma and the vision of truth presented in the universe will overcome the hurdles with its sublime address.

Let’s read Tufayli (R) himself.

Tufail bin Amr Al Dausi (R) continues.  I went out to my people and reached outside the boundary hill so that  the locals can see me .  Then a light appeared on my face.  It shone like a lamp from my forehead.  I prayed to Allah.  O Allah, remove this light from my face to another side.  People might read this as a facial deformity.  Then the light shifted to the tip of my whip.  It was shining like a torch.  By morning I had reached my native land.

Soon my  father who was aged, came to me.  I told my father to stay away from me for a while. We are not in the same belief. What happened to you my son .b Father exclaimed.  Did Islam  make a difference between you and me?  Have you entered the path of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ? If so , I am also coming to the same belief.  I have also accepted the faith.  Immediately the I said.  But go and purify yourself by taking a bath .  He quickly cleaned himself, changed his clothes and returned. He was warmly received and introduced more about Islam.  Father officially converted to Islam.

There comes his mother . She also took a bath and returned wearing clean clothes. Thufail (R) introduced Islam to her. Thus the mother of Suhail (R)also converted to Islam.

Later I invited the entire Daus tribe to Islam.  But they were not quick to accept.  I  returned to the Prophet ﷺ .  I said to the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  Adultery is very common in the Dausu tribe.  So  pray for their destruction.  Immediately the Prophet ﷺ prayed like this.  O Allah guide the tribe of Daus!  Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ said to me.

Go back to your tribe.  Invite them once again to the true path. Be gentle with them.  On my return, I remained in the Daus tribe as a preacher.  Later, I reached the presence of Holy Prophet ﷺ during Khaibar.  We arrived in Madinah with seventy or eighty families of the Daus tribe.  The Prophet ﷺ also reserved for us a share from Khaibar.

Ibn Ishaq (R) narrates.  When the Holy Prophet ﷺ passed away and some people became apostates, Tufail (R) set out with the Muslims.  He came to Yamama with the Muslims.  His son Amr was also with him.  One day he had a dream.  He said to the people who were with him.  Let me tell you a dream I had.  Can you explain it?  They asked what that dream was.  My head was shaved.  A bird flew out of my mouth. It entered a woman’s private part.  Later I saw my son  looking for me. He was also imprisoned .

Those who heard said that the dream you saw is a good dream.  Then Tufail (R) said.  I have  an interpretation of it.  Followers asked how you would interpret your dream .  He started saying.  Being shaved means that the head has fallen to the ground.  The meaning of the bird flying out of the mouth is that my soul has separated from the body.  It is interesting that the bird entered the secret part of the woman, which means that my body was hidden inside the mother earth. My son came down looking for me. I interpreted it to mean that my son also started working in my way.  And he will travel the world just like me.

The dream dawned just like that.  Tufail bin Amd Al Dausi (R) was killed in the battle of Yamama.  The son was wounded in the way of Allah and bid farewell to the world during the battle of Yarmouk.  It was during the time of Caliph Umar.

We have traveled through a historical event that encompasses all levels of thought.  A great man who sought Islam and embraced it properly.  An activist who swore to preach the  learned philosophy.  The courage to overcome all difficulties in the path of preaching.  A symbol of submission ready to flee when he saw that there would be a crisis if he stayed in the country to protect his faith.  Unequal interactions of survival and resistance.  Faithfulness to share with self-expectation based on the realization that a believer’s death is a journey to heaven. Accuracy to maintain the good things that have been known and learned from the School of the Prophet ﷺ.  What has passed before us is a simple narrative of a great event in which all these things come together.

Islam is the only religious philosophy that is at the forefront of teaching that death is hope.  If death is an end and a loss, what will be the mental contractions that the thought gives to man.  But when death is a journey towards hope,  we understand  that the good deeds and rituals here are the prelude to a long and happy life tomorrow, the life and death of a believer are equally beautiful.  Islam is an unequaled chemistry of life, living for a good death and dying for a good continued life.

The Rahaviyyin Delegation

A Companion named Qatada Al Rahawi (R) says.  When I was appointed as a preacher to my country, the Holy Prophet ﷺ took my hand and said: “May Allah make Taqwa or carefulness towards Allah your provision !  May Allah forgive your sins and guide you to goodness wherever you are” .

Ibn Sa’ad (R) narrates.  In the 10th year of Hijra, fifteen Rahawi tribesmen from the tribe of Madhij came to Madinah.  They first came to the house of Ramla Bint Haris.  Then they reached the Prophet’s ﷺ house and talked for a long time.  Some gifts were handed over to the Prophet ﷺ.  Among the group was a horse named Mirwah.  The Prophet ﷺ wished to see its performance.  The Prophet ﷺ felt very happy when he saw the performance of the horse.

All the people in the group accepted Islam.  Learned the holy Qur’an and religious rulings.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ also gave the gift given to regular mission teams .

When the Prophet ﷺ set out for Hajj, he was accompanied by representatives from the Rawahis.  They stayed in Madinah until the demise of the Prophet ﷺ.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ had fixed a share for them in the inheritance received from Khaiber.  During the time of Muawiya (R) they traded that property.

What was the prayer of the Holy Prophet ﷺ to the one who goes to preach to a land from the presence of the Prophet ﷺ?  In those very texts there is a clear indication of the task of the mission .  It was full of a great purpose to establish good and destroy evil.  It is clear that the person who goes as a representative should have forgiveness of sins, should have a spiritual sense of following Allah’s decrees, and should aim for good even after reaching here.

How many groups did the Holy Prophet ﷺ receive in a short period of time?  How much more precisely were things done than by a system of government which was organized to entertain them all, to give gifts, to know their surroundings and to intervene, to provide for the people in need of sustenance, and to assign fixed assets to those who remained in Madinah till the end.  How great is the curiosity of believers when they read that all this was accomplished 1400 years ago, surprising even modern techniques.

Nor can we spare the bright visions of responding appropriately to the gifts brought by the groups  and sharing joys . The Prophet ﷺ finds time to immediately see the skill and training of the gifted horse, to inspire them and to express his joy at the excellence of the gift.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ always shines brightly in history as a perfect example of humanity, expressing all the aspects of a leader with perfection and excellence.

Banu Sa’ad Hudaym Delegation.

Muhammad Bin Umar Al Aslami (R) narrates.  Ibn Nu’man (R) narrated from his father.  The arrival of the Holy Prophet ﷺ shaped the Arab world in two ways.  A group of people who understood Islam and the Prophet ﷺ and embraced Islam.  Another section was afraid and stayed away with anxiety. It was then that I came to the p Prophet ﷺ along with some people from my community.  After arriving in the province of Madinah, we walked aiming for the maajid.  When we reached the door of the masjid, we realized that the Prophet ﷺ was leading a funeral prayer.  We did not want to join in the prayer.  We stood aside in a corner to meet the Prophet ﷺ and make an agreement.

After the prayer, the Prophet ﷺ noticed us and called us closer.  asked, where are you from?  From the Banu Sa’ad Hudaym tribe.  Did you come as Muslims?  Yes.  Did you gather with us to pray?  no  Why didn’t ?  We thought it would be allowed only after meeting you.  No, nothing like that.  You have become a Muslim since you accepted Islam.  You can perform Islamic deeds.  No matter where you are, you are Muslims.

We made a deal by taking  the holy hands of the Prophet ﷺ.  The conversion to Islam was officially announced.  We returned to our vehicles.  We used to leave the youngest in our group with the vehicles and belongings.  Finally, he was also brought before the Holy Prophet ﷺ and made an agreement.

The Holy Prophet ﷺ specifically said that the smallest person in the group was your guardian and prayed for him.  As a result of the prayer that the Prophet ﷺ performed for him, that young man became the best reciter of the holy Qur’an and the leader of our worships.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ appointed him as the leader of our group.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ assigned Bilal (R) to give us the gifts we needed.  We returned home and Allah blessed our possessions.

How the Prophet ﷺ accepted a group and became a part of their actions.  How quickly he observed them and gave the necessary suggestions and advice.  How quickly the young man who arrived as an attendant became the leader of the group and leader of the rituals.  The qualities, leadership skills and greatness of each one were recognized and the necessary privileges and considerations were set as examples.

How quickly the Prophet ﷺ transformed a people who should have been neglected into conquerors and leaders of the world.  Enlightening the human resource is the most important part of nation building.  How much the people of a country are enlightened is what raises the graph of the superiority of a country.  In his life, the Holy Prophet ﷺ showed in a short period of time how many high examples and unequaled construction activities in a social construction process.  If a study is done only on the improvement of human resources and social construction, the example set by the Prophet ﷺ can be mentioned everywhere in the world.

Salaman Delegation.

Muhammad bin Umar (R) says.  The said group came to Madinah in the month of Shawwal in the 10th year of Hijra.  Habib bin Assalamani (R) says.  Seven of us from Salaman  reached Madinah.  Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ was about to go for  a funeral .  We greeted each other . Where are you from ?. The Prophet ﷺ asked. We are from the tribe of Salaman.  We have come as representatives of our countrymen.  We have come to make  a covenant with you.  Immediately the Holy Prophet ﷺ said to his attendant Thauban (R). “Arrange a comfortable place for this group”. After mid-day prayer, we came to meet the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  Then he was in the place between his house and mimbar .  We asked the Prophet ﷺ some of our questions.  Prophet ﷺ replied . Introduced the Islamic rules of prayer.  We accepted Islam . The Prophet ﷺ presented gifts.

The Holy Prophet ﷺ inquired about the condition  of the people of Salaman region.  They said that the area is suffering from water shortage and rain shortage.  Immediately the Prophet ﷺ prayed for rain for them.  O Allah, give them rain!  They said, “No, O Prophet ﷺ, please raise your hands   well and pray.”  The Prophet ﷺ  smiled and raised both hands to the sky so that they could see his armpits.  After that, they returned home. They knew that on the day the Prophet ﷺ prayed, their native land got  rain.

The Delegation of  Banu Sulaim:

A man named Qais bin Nusaiba (R) from the tribe of Banu Sulaiman came to Madinah.  It was the 10th year of Hijra.  Many questions were raised to the Prophet ﷺ and he got answers.

After hearing the Holy Prophet ﷺ’s conversations and Qur’anic lessons, he said.  I have heard and understood the language of the Romans, the  messages of the Persians, the poetry of the Arabs, and the augury of the soothsayers  .  But none of it is similar to the speech of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the presented scriptures. The Prophet ﷺ presents unique words.  Accept my words.. He urged his followers and countrymen.

Among the many factors that attract people to Islam, the influence of the words of the Holy Qur’an, which was brought forward by the Holy Prophet ﷺ, is important.  In fact, when they studied the Holy Qur’an and its style, all the scholars then and now were amazed at its beauty .  The presence of the holy  Qur’an is also an important factor in the influence of Islam at any time.  Many people are able to experience the sweetness of Islam when opportunities are opened to learn and teach the holy Qur’an properly.

Let us read a little more about Banu Sulaim.

They came to the Holy Prophet ﷺ in the year of victory over Makkah .  They were then a group of seven hundred or a thousand members.  Abbas bin Mirdas (R), Anas bin Abbas (R) and Rashid bin Abdi Rabbahu (R) were also in the group. They embraced Islam and expressed interest in participating in the  conquest of Makkah. They stood at the front carrying the red flag. They also participated in Twaif and Hunain movements.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ granted the province of Ruhat to a person named Rashid bin Abdi Rabbahu (R).  There is a stream called Ainu Rasool.  Earlier, Rashid (R) was the one who followed  idolatry in Banu Sulaim.  One day two foxes were seen urinating on the deity they were worshipping.  Then he recited a line of poetry.

“A rabbun Yabulussu’Alabanu bi ra’ sihi

Lakhad Dalla Man Balat Alaihi Sa’ Alibu.”

Is this thing on whose head foxes urinate, my guardian?  How despicable is this !.

This scene angered him.  In a fit of rage, he destroyed his own idol.  Later he came to the presence of the Prophet ﷺ.  After his talk, the Holy Prophet ﷺ inquired about his name.  He said the name was Ghawi bin Abdul Uzza.  The meaning of the name Gavi is God’s servant.  Immediately the Prophet ﷺ changed his name.  Named Rashid bin Abdi Rabbah (R) which means guided servant of his true Sustainer and Creator. After that he  remained on good terms with the Prophet ﷺ and was a part of the entire subsequent movement.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ once said that the best of the Arab tribes was Banu Sulaim and the best of them was Rashid (R).

Ibn Sa’ad (R) narrates the incident when a person named Qudad bin Ammar (R) came to the Prophet ﷺ and promised the Prophet ﷺ that he would come to this presence with a thousand people riding on horses.

He went to his country and organized the people.  Out of a thousand people, 100 people were kept in the country.  This was to prevent any possible attack. With the remaining 900 people, he prepared to go to Madinah. But he was on the verge of demise . So he selected three men from there and  divided 900 men  into three groups of 300 people each and assigned tasks: ‘I have entrusted you to fulfill my will and lead this group to reach near the Prophet ﷺ.  Those three people were Abbas bin Mirdas (rR), Jabbar bin Al Hakam (R) and Farrar Asarid (R).

They led the groups and reached near the Prophet ﷺ place to fulfill the will.  Immediately the Prophet ﷺ asked. “Where is that handsome man of truth and eloquence”?  They replied that Allah called him and he answered that call.  Then the next question of Holy Prophet ﷺ.  “He promised a thousand members.  Where are the remaining hundred”?  We left them in the country thinking that if there was an attack by the Kinana tribe there will be no one to defend .  No, the Prophet ﷺ assured that no party will come against you this year.  After this message, those 100 people also came to the Prophet ﷺ house.  That group came under the leadership of Munqiu bin Malik (R).  They joined with the Prophet ﷺ in an area called Hadda.

The Delegation from the Suda tribe in Yemen. ziyad bin Haris Al Sudae (R) narrates. I came to the Prophet ﷺ and converted to Islam. The Prophet ﷺ made a covenant. Then I got the information that a group of soldiers of the Prophet ﷺ had gone to my area. Ibn Sa’ad (R) narrated. In the eighth year of the Hijra, the Prophet (ﷺ ) returned from Ji’rana and sent a group of his followers to Yemen. They were instructed to reach the land of the Suda tribesmen. Ziyad bin Haris Al Sudae (R) continues. I said the Prophet ﷺ: I am a representative of my countrymen. They are willing to convert to Islam. I have witnessed before them that my countrymen will convert and obey Islam. So it would have been good to call back the army you  sent there. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: “Go quickly and call them back here”. I said, my vehicle was very tired. So I can not travel on it quickly. At that moment, the Prophet ﷺ sent a representative. The army was asked to return. Accordingly, groups from them converted to Islam and joined the Prophet ﷺ 15 delegates arrived before the Holy Prophet ﷺ. Then Sa’ad bin Ubada (R) said. O Messenger of God, may those who come stay with me. The Prophet ﷺ consented. He gave them a good reception, hospitality and clothes and led them to the Prophet ﷺ. They all officially proclaimed Islam  and entered into a covenant with the Prophet ﷺ . Ziyad bin Haris (R) says. At that time the Prophet ﷺ told me. Brother ! of the Suda tribesmen, you are acceptable in your country. I said. This is what God has guided them. Then the Prophet asked:  May I assign you as their leader? I agreed. I was made the leader of my community and the necessary statements were recorded. Then I asked the Prophet ﷺ .Anything to collect charity from them? Then special writings were made for it. Ziyad (R) says. It was in the midst of some of his travels. During the journey, the Prophet ﷺ visited their homes.  Then they complained about their amir or leader. The complaint was that all the rights they  had had been at Jhiliyya were removed . Then the Prophet ﷺ asked. Did you do that? Yes, they responded. The Prophet( ﷺ ) turned to his followers and said: “Leadership is not appropriate for a true believer, is it? Harris says. That expression of the Holy Prophet ﷺ 1stuck in my mind. By then, someone else had come to the Prophet ﷺ. The man said. Give me something. “Asking someone else when he is prosperous, is a headache and a stomach ache”. Then he said. But give me the property from Swadakha. “If the Prophet ﷺ or others judges about this property, it will not be pleasing to Allah. This is because Allah Himself has directly determined and determined 8 heirs. If you belong to that category I will give it to you. Otherwise it is not fair to give you. When that happens, the question comes with headaches and ailments to

one’s stomach.

Ziyad continues.  It occurred to me that it was not good to ask charity  when I was rich.  Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ departed at the beginning of the night.  I also joined.  Although there were other disciples with the Prophet ﷺ, I followed closely behind him and when I went a little further, it was just me and the Prophet ﷺ.  Everyone else was behind.  When it was time for the morning prayer or Subh, he asked me to perform Adan.  Then I asked. Shall I perform Iqamat ?  The Prophet ﷺ looked at the west and the east and said.  not now.  When Fajr dawned, the Prophet ﷺ got out of the vehicle.  Went for relieving himself.

By that time all those who were traveling behind had joined our group.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ asked turning to me.  Hey brother from Suda.  Have some water?  No,  not enough water to give to you .  I have very little water now.  But pour that water in a bowl and bring it here. I did so  .  The Prophet ﷺ lowered his forearm into that water bowl.  At that time, it was as if a fountain would flow from between his fingers.

Oh Brother Suda, if we had not felt ashamed of Allah, we could have taken and drank from this as much as we wanted.  However, if there is anyone in the group who needs it, tell them to come.  Those in need of water came to the Holy Prophet ﷺ according to the call.

Then, the Prophet ﷺ stood up for prayer.  He wanted to perform Iqamat to Bilal(R).  Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ intervened and said.  Let that brother from Suda perform Iqamat.  He is the one who performed Adan .  The person who performed the Adan  has the right to perform Iqama.  After that, prayer was held under the leadership of Holy Prophet ﷺ.

After the prayer, I approached the Prophet ﷺ with two agreement papers.  Those were the agreements entered into earlier when the duties were handed over.  I said.  Please relieve me of these two responsibilities.  The Prophet ﷺ asked, Why ? Being a leader is not so good for a believer  .  I am a true Mu’min or believer.  I believe in Allah and Rasool ﷺ.  I heard what you said before:   ‘Asking for charity while having wealth is a pain in the head and a disease in the stomach.  Really I am a man having  comforts and wealth.  Then the Prophet ﷺ said to me.  “If you are interested, you can continue with the responsibility.  If not, you can opt out of it”. I said. I prefer to keep away from responsibility .  “But show me someone else who is suitable for that “.  Then I pointed at one of our group and assigned him the leadership .

We said to the Prophet ﷺ.  We have a well.  In winter we will get the water we need .  But when summer comes, the water becomes less and we have to go to different places for our needs.  There are rivals and enemies in the nearby area  .  So you should pray that we will have enough water in our well, and that we will gather in one place without dispersing to four ways. Then the Prophet ﷺ said to bring 7 pebbles.  When we brought it, the Prophet ﷺ performed  a special prayer over it in the palm of his hand.  When you reach the land, recite the name of Allah and put these one by one into the well.  We did accordingly.  By that time the depth of the well had increased to the extent that our eyes could not reach it.

The 15 people who came to Prophet ﷺ returned to their country.  Islam spread in the region.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ was able to meet 100 people from the said province during the farewell Hajj.

Swadif Delegation

Ibn Sa’ad (R) narrates.  Around ten people came to the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  Then the Prophet ﷺ was in the place between his house and the rostrum. They sat  there without speaking or greeting.  Immediately the Prophet ﷺ asked.  Aren’t you Muslims?  They said.  Yes, we are Muslims.  But then why don’t you say salaam?  Immediately they stood up and greeted like this.  Assalamu Alaika Ayyuhannabiyu Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu.  O Prophet ﷺ, may the salvation, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you’   The Prophet ﷺ specifically told them to sit down.  They asked the Prophet ﷺ about the times of prayer.  The Prophet ﷺ described them in detail.

We got only so much information about this group. But in this chapter it is relevant to study about this group also. The style and manner in which each group came together, the methods they adopted, the way the Prophet ﷺ greeted them and marked their approaches are blessed chapters for all time.

How enlightening are these chapters as we learn how a beautiful idea reached different parts of the world and who came to headquarters in search of such an idea and its leadership.  Now let’s read about another group.

Arrival of Abu Sufra.

Ibn Asakir (R) narrates.  A man named Abu Sufra came to the Prophet ﷺ to make a treaty with the Prophet ﷺ.  He was very handsome, eloquent and tall.  He was wearing a yellow robe.  His beauty and appearance surprised the Prophet ﷺ himself.  The Prophet ﷺ asked.  who are you?  He said.  I am Khati, son of Sarikh, son of Lalim, son of Umar, son of Shihab, son of Hiqam,  son of Jaland, son of Mustaqabir, the pirate of the ship.  The beginning of the saying that the son of a criminal,  the son of a thief and the son of a robber.  He added that he was  a king from a royal family.  Then the Prophet ﷺ said.  Avoid thieves and robbers.  You are the father of Sufra or you are henceforth Abu Sufra (R).  Hearing this, he recited “Shahada” .  O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I firmly believe that there is no god but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

I got 18 boys and 19th a daughter.  I named her Sufra.  Then the Prophet ﷺ said.  I name you Abu Sufra or father of Sufra.

Delegation of Zimam bin Tha’laba.

Abu Hurairah says.  One day the Prophet ﷺ was reclining in the masjid. A man came on a camel and alighted near the masjid. He tied the camel nearby the masjid and  came into the masjid . He was a tall man with long hair with two tresses . He came straight to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, “Which of you is Muhammad?”  Who among you is the grandson of Abdul Mutalib?  We told him it was the white person who sat there.

It can be seen in another narration .  A man living in the suburbs came to the Prophet ﷺ.  He approached the Holy Prophet ﷺ asking who Muhammad was?. The man said: ‘I may  be speaking harshly to you. You should not feel anything ill of it. The Prophet ﷺ said, “you can talk anyway, I have no problem”.

Anas says: The Holy Qur’an has instructed us not to react with the questions of the people living in the remote areas . Those who ask will ask and we will listen.

The man continued his questions as follows. O Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Your representative approached me and said, “You claim that Allah has chosen you as His Messenger.” Yes, that is true. The Prophet ﷺ replied, “But who created the heavens? Allah. Who created the earth? Allah. Who created these mountains and created the things on it.”?  Allah. He asked and the Prophet ﷺ answered.

It can be seen in a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah and Anas (R). The Prophet ﷺ asked. I ask by  the One who created me and you and those before us:  ‘Has Allah commanded you to worship only Allah and not to associate anyone with Him and to abandon all the idols that we have been worshiping since our ancestors?  The Prophet ﷺ said, yes.

Has Allah commanded us to pray five times a day and night?  Yes.  Has Allah commanded us to take a portion of our wealth from the rich and give it to the poor?  Yes. Has Allah commanded fasting for one month out of the 12 months of the year?  Yes. Your representative told me that there is a command of Allah to perform Hajj in the year aiming at the house of Allah!  Is that right?  Yes.

He asked the Prophet ﷺ in detail about everything.  He enumerated the basic customs and rituals of Islam.  Finally he took the oath and declared Islam. Then he added, “I believe everything that was said here.”  I am a representative to my community.  Or I will convey the whole message to my people.

There is also this in a report from Thabit (R).  After enumerating the obligatory things in Islam he said: ‘I will not increase or decrease in these obligatory matters. The Prophet ﷺ immediately responded that if what he said is true, then he will enter heaven.

Referring to this incident, Umar ibn al-Khattab (R)said: I have not seen anyone else who asked and received answers like Zimamu bin Tha’alaba.

After the conversation with the Prophet ﷺ, he untied the camel and rode on it and went to his country.  By that time the locals gathered around him.  He explained everything in detail. He started the conversation by rejecting Lata and Uzza. Then they said.  Don’t talk like that, Zimam. You may get affected with vitiligo, leprosy or madness.  He immediately responded that Lata and Uzza would neither do us any good nor harm.  Then he explained..Allah has appointed His Messenger with a great book.  I bear witness that there is no worshiper but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. I have come to you with what He commanded and what He forbade.  By the time this conversation was over, all the men and women there had embraced Islam.

Ibn Abbas (R)says.  We have never heard of any enquirer as glorious as Zimamu bin Tha’alaba.

Arrival of Tareek bin Abdullah(R).

Twariq bin Abdillahi (ra) remembers his past. ‘I was standing in Dhul Majaz market.  Then a man in a robe calls out.  O people, you proclaim “La ilaha illallah or there is no deity to be worshiped but Allah.. and be victorious ” . then another comes right behind the person who is talking . He calls out by aiming to throw a stone at the first person.  “Oh people  don’t believe that.”  I enquired .  Who is this caller?  He is a person who claims to be a prophet from the family of Hashim.  Who is the person following behind with the stone?  It is the paternal brother of the first person, Abdul Uzza or Abu Lahab.

Days went by.  Many people became Muslims and migrated to Madinah.  We were going from Rabada to Madinah. Our goal was to buy dates of Madinah.  When we reached near Madinah and began to see the walls and trees of Madinah, we decided to stop and change our cloth get. Then a person wearing two simple clothes greeted us and said Salaam.  Then he asked.  Where do you come from ?  We said, from Rabada. ? Where are you going?.To Madinah.  What is there?. To buy the dates of Madinah .

The report says. There was a red camel with us. The person we met asked:  Would you sell me this camel?  Yes, it can be sold for such an amount of money. Before giving the price of the camel, the man took the reins of the camel and crossed the boundary of Madinah. The man disappeared from our sight. We said to ourselves:  What have we done now? The selling is not complete.  No amount received.  We were dealing with a stranger.  Immediately the lady with us said. You need not think like that.  Seeing that person’s face, you will never say that he is a cheater.  Look at that face, don’t you see as if the full bright moon of the fourteenth night. Don’t worry I am surety for your camel.

By this time a man came there and introduced himself.  I am the representative of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.  Here is  the dates for you.  Eat your fill. Then take yourself.  We ate our fill. Took dates as mentioned earlier.  After that, we entered Madinah with the messenger who came there .  Then the Prophet ﷺ was giving a lecture.  During the lecture we heard him talking about charity.

“The hand that gives is better than the hand that receives.  Start it with your family.  Or parents, siblings, close friends, in-laws.  Do your duty.  It will only do you good”.  This is how it was told in detail.  Then one of the Answaris stood up.  It is also said that the man who got up there was a representative of Banu Yarboo.  He asked like this.  Otherwise, how to get blood from them?  Or the solution of the murder that took place earlier during Jahiliyyah.  The Prophet ﷺ said.  Children do not receive compensation from the parent .  It was repeated three times.

Look what information and descriptions we read from moment to moment.  Those who see the Prophet ﷺ for the first time in their life read his brightness, charm and honesty from his face.  He introduces a transparent method of doing things.  It inspires about goodness in simplicity.  He speaks by putting values in front of him and saying that if he seeks a solution for the actions of the time of ignorance, he will not be able to establish goodness again.

Each and every lesson continues to convince us that the life and discourses of the Holy Prophet ﷺ are not a confluence of some remarks that cannot be added to the ends and corners, but were through a transparent life in the correct light of history.

The Arrival of Zaid al-Khail (R).

Fifteen men from the tribe of Twayy came to the Prophet ﷺ under the leadership of Zaid  al-Khail (R).  The meaning of the expression Zaid al-Khail  is Za’id the Horseman.  The documents say that it was just as an expression or  because he had five horses of his own.

Zaid (R) reached near Prophet ﷺ after tying the vehicles .The Prophet ﷺ asked him what his name was.  When he said Zaid al-Khail, the Prophet ﷺ replied, “No, you are “Zaidul Khair”,  the good Zaid.”  Since then he has been known in history as Zaid al-Khair.  The Prophet ﷺ told them the basics of Islam and related matters.  They decided to follow Islam.

Zaid (R) was strong in health  and very handsome. There is an expression that the Holy Prophet ﷺ said.  If a person from among the Arabs were to be praised, there would be something less in him than what has been described.  However, this was not the case with Zaid . He looked better than what was said about him.

He accepted Islam after the Prophet’s ﷺ guidance and set out to preach to his people.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ said as soon as he started his journey.  That he could perform this task only if the fever did not affect him or if he did not die of the fever.  On his way he fell ill and died on the spot when he reached Farda.  At the time of his acceptance of Islam, the Holy Prophet ﷺ had given him the land of Fayd and two other lands.  The documents were also handed over.

After the death of Zaid (R), his wife, who had no knowledge of the documents, burnt all the belongings related to it, and this document was also included in it.

The arrival of Zaid (R) was so great that it contributed to some beautiful scenes.  He came with a misunderstanding of what he had heard about the Prophet ﷺ from someone.  But the approach and conversation of the Prophet ﷺ influenced him.  He got a chance to understand who the Prophet ﷺ was.  When the Prophet ﷺ praised him, he was surprised who had never heard words of praise.  He also realized that when it came to praise that was justified, it was not just to impress him.

The Prophet ﷺ knew  through spiritual wisdom that  Zaid may be affected with fever and bid farewell to the world.  And the Prophet ﷺ shared it.

Zaid is also the best example of an enlightened person who was influenced by the excellence of the Prophet ﷺ’s character.  The Prophet ﷺ’s benevolent behavior and understanding response dissolved all his revenge on the Prophet ﷺ.  Soon he became a follower, servant and attendant of the Prophet ﷺ.  If comprehensive research studies on how the influence of a great person was on the history of the world, it is enough to study the characteristic approaches of the Prophet’s ﷺ life. There is no need to look for anyone else.

Arrival of Banu Amir Bin Za’u Za’a

We are going to read the account of two separate persons who came the Holy Prophet ﷺ and their experiences.

Narrated Ibn Ishaq.  Delegation from Banu Amir came to Madinah. Amir bin Tufail and Jabbar bin Salma were in the group.  These three were the leaders of their community and had demonic features. They came to the  Prophet ﷺ with evil intentions and selfish interests.  Aamir told Arbad.  If we reach near the  Prophet Muhammad  ﷺ I will talk and divert his  attention.  At that time you have to do what you want with the sword.  Arbad agreed.  Both came before the Prophet.  Aamir started talking to the Prophet ﷺ . He asked the Prophet ﷺ to accept him as his soul friend.  The Prophet ﷺ said, “If you come to the truth, it may be so.”  When he asked again, the Prophet ﷺ said.  If you believe that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Prophet of

Allah, then I will accept you as a friend.

There is also this in the narration of Ibn Abbas (R).  Maybe if Muhammad was killed economic value or war will be the verdict .  We can get away with financial compensation.

Ibn Abbas continues.  Amir and Arbad came to the Prophet ﷺ.  He was talking for a while.  It was thought that Arbad would kill the Prophet ﷺ by using weapons during the conversation.  But he could not see anything being done.

Actually, Arbad would not have been able to do that.  As if the sword was stuck in his hand.  Anyway, after the conversation, both of them came out. Aamir told to his friend.  I no longer believe in your bravery even a cent.  I have never seen a coward like you.  Why did you not use weapons while I was talking to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)?  Arbad responded as follows.  Whenever I was ready to raise my sword, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was not seen and you alone appeared before me.  How can I kill you?  Just as you yourself came as a screen  between me and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ .

Aamir came out with very strong reactions .  His claim was that since he did not get what he demanded, he would take revenge.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ was praying, O Allah, take control of him.  Both of them came out and started the journey. The Holy Prophet’s ﷺ prayers continued for three days.  He finally met a gruesome end with fatal desease.

Defense is an important issue for any nation and individual.  Even when countries live in harmony and happiness with each other, each country will more securely preserve its unique striking and defensive capabilities.  It is a necessity of existence.  It is essential for moving forward.

There are also those who came to the Prophet’s ﷺ presence and understood the Holy Prophet ﷺ in the loving receptions of the Prophet ﷺ who came to know the religion through friendly  discussions.  But there is no point in reciting the Vedas in front of those who come with evil intentions and think that they can be defeated and killed?  Any system should have security to properly counter them and protect the nation and the leader from their nuisance.  That is exactly what the Prophet ﷺ has depicted so powerfully. So if any one can overcome and defeat then what is the relevance of all these systems.  Then Islam and Prophet are required to be role models in any way.

Arrival of Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Aqil (R).

Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Aqil Asaqafi (R) says.  When the group from the Thaqif tribe came to the Prophet ﷺ , I was there. Till then the Prophet ﷺ was the most despicable person for us .  By the time we left there , the Prophet ﷺ had become the most beloved person to us  in the world.  One of us asked the Prophet ﷺ:  Did you pray to Allah to give you authority as He had given authority to prophet Sulaiman (A)?. The Holy Prophet ﷺ laughed as soon as he heard the question. Then the Prophet ﷺ said:  “I, your friend, may have a higher position in the eyes of Allah than Prophet Sulaiman (A).  Allah has given a special prayer to all prophets.  Or a special prayer that will not be rejected.  Some of the prophets used that prayer in this world.  Some prophets used that prayer over their communities.  When the people disobeyed, the said prayer was used and thereby the people were punished.  Allah has given me a special prayer. I am keeping that prayer for tomorrow for my people. It is to help my followers on the last day” .

Here the Holy Prophet ﷺ has made remarks that pave the way for great ideas.  That I have not asked Allah for the authority of Prophet Sulaiman (A) known as King Solomon.  And if I asked, I would have received.  The status of the Hereafter  world are better than that.  Past prophets have invoked special prayers, either for themselves or to end the wrath of their people.  It was a period of intense experimentation.  But despite the great trials in the life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, not once did he perform any prayer against the community.  Rather, he prayed that at least one person among the people of the future should come to the right path.  The Prophet ﷺ did not use the prayer that would be answered immediately for his family or personal pleasures.  On the contrary, waiting for tomorrow to pray for the welfare of the community.

This is where we can read another dimension to the expression that the Prophet ﷺ is an Ummiy.  Further strengthening the phrase,  “Ummiyy” means Ummatiyy or those who always wish for the welfare of the community.  The noble Prophet ﷺ had only one thought.  Exalt the name of Allah, the Creator, and faith in Him.  May all the people of the world be guided and prosper.  Always be kind to those who accept the prophethood of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  Things like that.

Consider the initial part of the above statement.  The Prophet ﷺ becomes the most beloved personality with just one look.  Who else has  influence more than  this?  Such a change is not a rare  incident in the life of the Prophet ﷺ.  It was such a spiritual influence that attracted visitors to the faith in many moments.

Arrival of Banu Abd Adiyy

Ibn Abbas (R) narrates.  The delegation of Banu Abdu Adiyy came to the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  Haris bin Wahban (R), Uwaimir bin Akram (R), Habib bin Milla (R) and Rabia bin Milla (R) were in the group.  They started saying: ‘We are Haram dwellers and the noblest of those living in the Haram.  We never intend to fight with you.  If those who are not Quraish come against you, we will defend them.  We are not interested in waging war with the Quraish.

Any member of our group who accidentally encounters or injures someone from your  group should be compensated.  If anyone from our group does so we will compensate.  If any actions are taken against those who have run away from either groups,  the other group will not be held responsible .  After saying this, Uwaimir (R) said.  Let the Prophet ﷺ make an agreement with us in this regard.  I will prepare for it.  Immediately others said.  Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would never cheat or change his word.

Habib (R) and Rabi’a (R) intervened and said this.  Aseed bin Abi Unas is the one who ran away from us.  Whatever decision can be taken in his case.  We have no complaints about that.  On learning this, the Prophet ﷺ agreed to confront Aseed with armed force. The Prophet ﷺ informed that there is no harm even if he is killed.  Aseed came to know the news of Rabi’a (R) and Habibi (R) and the response of the Prophet ﷺ.  He went straight to Twaif and stayed there.  Times have passed.  The Prophet ﷺ conquered Makkah.  Aseed was among those who were declared to face armed action if  found.

In the meantime, Sariatu bin Sunaim (R) reached Twaif from Makkah.  He met Aseed.  Aseedd sought information. Sariat narrated in detail  the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ and the conquest of Makkah.  Then he added:  Allah has given victory to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.  His help was kindly given to the Prophet ﷺ.  Go to that Prophet ﷺ.  The Prophet ﷺ will not kill those who approach him. Aseed left with his expectant wife.  The delivery took place at Qarnu Sa’alib.  He entered the house and put on a long robe and a turban and started his journey to meet the Prophet ﷺ .

When he reached the presence of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, Saria (R) was there as a guard for the Prophet ﷺ.  He came to the Holy Prophet ﷺ next to Saria who was standing armed.  Then he asked.  O Prophet ﷺ, have you issued a statement to handle Aseed ? The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘Yes’.  If he comes to you as a believer, would you accept him?  Yes, the Prophet ﷺ replied.  Immediately he put his hands on the hands of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and you are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.  Here I am Aseed.  My hands are attached to you. The Prophet ﷺ accepted him.  He called one of his followers and told him to make this announcement.  Aseed has reached there as a believer.  The Prophet ﷺ declared protection for him.  Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ caressed his face. Patted on  his body .

Later, if he entered a dark room, his face would light up.  That way the room will also get light.

Aseed  enjoyed the music of the true path. Then he recited a beautiful poem on it.

Arrival of Banu Abdul Qais.

Tabarani (R) and others report through acceptable narrations.  One day the Holy Prophet ﷺ was talking to his followers. Suddenly said this.  A group will now enter here from this side.  They will be the best among those in the Eastern Province.  As soon as Umar heard this, he got up.  The Holy Prophet ﷺ looked at the pointed direction.  There are 13 camels coming through.  Asked them.  Which ethnic groups do you belong to?  We are Banu Abdul Qais, tribe of Abd Qais.  Are you here for business?  They said, no.  Then Umar (R) said.  The Prophet ﷺ has just said about you. He said good things about you.

They walked with Umar (R) and reached the holy Prophet ﷺ.  Here sits the leader you  expect.  After hearing this, they rushed towards the Prophet ﷺ with excitement.  Some hurried, some ran, walked together and so on.  They grabbed the hand of the Prophet ﷺ and kissed it.  They visited the Prophet ﷺ wearing the same clothes in which they had traveled.

Only Amir Al Ashaj remained near the vehicle.  He was the youngest in the group and stood there to take care of the goods and so on.

Says Sari bin Amir (R) who was in the group.  We all rushed and grabbed the hand of the Prophet ﷺ and kissed it.  Mundir bin al-Ashaj, however, did not hurry.

He slowly went and changed the clothes he had traveled in and put on good clothes and slowly came to the Prophet’s ﷺ house.  He was ugly in appearance and grabbed the hand of the Prophet ﷺ and offered kisses.  He then made a remark to the Holy Prophet ﷺ referring to the lack of beauty of his body: ‘Human skin is not used for drinking water.  What others need from humans are his two small organs:  Or heart and tongue.  He told the Holy Prophet ﷺ that he should not worry because he is ugly and that what is important is the goodness of a human being and his limitations.

Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ responded thus.  “There are two qualities in you that Allah and His Messenger ﷺ like.  One is endurance and two is a method of doing things with aplomb”. The Holy Prophet ﷺ responded that Allah has bestowed these two qualities in your nature itself. Not acquired by you. He was very happy.  O Allah, You have given me two virtues that You and Your Prophet ﷺ liked! He offered praises.

The Prophet ﷺ looked at the faces of the audience and asked.  What a gloom on your face.  They responded that it is due to the Prophet’s ﷺ forbidding certain substances.  Immediately the Holy Prophet ﷺ said:   “So no drinks are forbidden or allowed.  All that is forbidden is any intoxicating drink”.

The Holy Prophet ﷺ introduced each of the varieties of dates that they brought as gifts to the Holy Prophet ﷺ by name.  Then they said that they had  nothing to say beyond this. The Prophet ﷺ knows better than us about the resources of our country.

There is a famous report in Sahih al-Bukhari about the arrival of Abdul Qais and his  group to the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  Ibn Abbas (R) narrates. The group of  Abdul Qais came to the Prophet’s ﷺ house. ‘Which group that has arrived just ?. The Prophet ﷺ asked.  When told that they were from the tribe of Rabi’ah, the Prophet ﷺ greeted them with special blessings.  Then they said this.  We are from far away.  We can’t be here all the time.  On the way we come there is a tribe that show enmity towards us. So we can come only in the forbidden month of war.  Briefly tell us the basics so that we can enter heaven.

Then the Prophet ﷺ commanded four things and forbade four things.  Four containers were banned which were used to make and store alcohol and intoxicants .  Among the fundamentals of Islam, the four most important were mentioned.  They were believing in Allah, maintaining prayer, giving zakat, fasting in Ramadan, and giving one-fifth of one’s earned income.  After saying the first thing, the Prophet ﷺ asked.  Do you know what it means to believe in Allah?  They said.  We do not know.  Allah and His Messenger ﷺ know best about that.

The Prophet ﷺ taught them  the basics of Shahada .  Believe and bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah and that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the Messenger of Allah.

The Prophet ﷺ again spoke to them for a long time.  In the meantime, Allah displayed the whole country before the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  They were surprised when the Holy Prophet ﷺ asked them about their country in detail.  They said: ‘Even a person born in that country cannot speak about that country so clearly.  They once again firmly understood the Prophethood of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  Then the Prophet ﷺ himself said this clearly.  When you came here, the whole land was shown before me.  I watched all its highs and lows.  Is there a kind of date  named Barney which can cure disease ?  It is a disease-removing and healing date .

The second Jumua Prayer in Islamic history took place in the homeland of this group. At a place called Juwasa which was then part of Bahrain.  Today, Juwasa is a part of Saudi Arabia.  Even today, the old Masjid in the said place is specially maintained and preserved by the Saudi Department of Archeology.

The Holy Prophet ﷺ has made other remarks in praise of the said people .

How does Holy Prophet ﷺ accept each country and its people?  What messages does Prophet ﷺ convey to each countryman?  Variety of approaches according to the variety of dealings  .  How all these diversities converge in one centre. Is there any other leader in the world who has had the opportunity to struggle and agree with so many differences.  Having to face so many groups and people.  Humanitarian interventions go beyond mere favors.  Orientations towards green living and practices.  What elements should be added to read, study and copy life?  Each chapter unfolds more curiosities and wonders before us.

Arrival of Adiyy bin Hatim.

Adiyy himself says Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was appointed . I do not know that any other Arab had the hatred that I had for the Prophet ﷺ that day.  I was a Christian and a leader of my people.  I asked my Arabian attendant to prepare good camels for travel. They should be at my eyesight. If you know that the group of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has reached anywhere in our territory, you must inform me.

What I said happened.  My attendant came and told me.  The horse of the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ team has set foot at our nearby area.  So it’s time to do what you want to do.  Then I noticed some flags moving.  I asked what is that?  The attendant said,  that was the group of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.  Bring my camels closer.  I carried my family and belongings on it and prepared to travel.  I aimed for the place where the Christians live in Syria.

I entered Syria and traveled to the border near Rome. A region as far away from the Arabs.  Even then, my hatred for the Prophet ﷺ continued to grow.

My family and I left, but Hatam’s daughter and other family members remained behind.  According to another report,  my uncle and many others in the family were captured by the group of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ . Among them was Hatam’s daughter or Adiyy’s sister. They also came to Madinah among the captives from the tribe of Twayy.  The Prophet ﷺ received direct information that I had fled to Syria and that my family had reached Madinah.  When the prisoners were being produced in the vicinity of the Madinah maajid, the Prophet ﷺ passed by.

Ali (R) says in a statement that the daughter of Hatam  was wise . She spoke to the Prophet ﷺ like this: ‘I am the daughter of the leader of our country.  My father was a person who fed the hungry, clothed the poor and gave shelter to the helpless.  My father was at the forefront of entertaining guests, serving food, spreading greetings of peace, and receiving those who came in need.  I am the daughter of Hatamu Thai’e.  Then the Prophet ﷺ responded like this.  “All the virtues your father followed are signs of a true believer!  If he had embraced Islam, we would have greeted him with a special greeting of mercy.  Then the Prophet ﷺ said. “Keep her away from the crowd.  Her father was a lover of good qualities.  Allah is also interested in good qualities”.

The daughter of Hatam continued her conversation with the Prophet ﷺ.  O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, my father has passed away.  There is no one to save me .  So be generous to me  .  Allah will be generous to you.  The Prophet ﷺ asked. “Who is your wafid or escort?  Adiyy bin Hatam. She said.  Oh.. ok.  A person who ran away from Allah and His Messenger. Isn’t it!

Hatam’s daughter says.  Hearing my news, the Holy Prophet ﷺ walked forward.  The next day the Prophet ﷺ passed by there.  Then someone from behind asked me to get up and talk to the Prophet ﷺ.  As I said the other day, I began to present my  matter again before the Holy Prophet ﷺ.  The Prophet ﷺ said: “It will be okay, keep calm .  Find someone who can take  you there safely.  I will do the necessary things” .  When I inquired about the person who had asked me to speak to the Prophet ﷺ, I was informed that it was Ali (R).

I approached the Prophet ﷺ when I got a traveling party that could safely take me to  my brother.  O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I have seen a group that can take me safely to my destination. The Prophet ﷺ sent me away by providing me with the necessary clothes, travel materials and expenses during the journey.  I left for Syria.

Adiyy says.  I noticed a camel walking towards me.  I told myself.  Hatam’s daughter?  When I looked carefully, yes it was her.  She came near me and started talking: Rude man who breaks the bond of brotherhood!  You came here with your wife and children didn’t you?  Did you leave all the rest that was given to you by father?  Didn’t you leave a poor woman behind?  I intervened and told her.  Sorry! Don’t talk so harshly . Everything you said  has happened from me but you must forgive me.  After that, she stayed with me.  I asked her, who was intelligent, about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.  What do you have to say about that person?  She said:  My opinion is that you should meet that person as soon as possible.  If he is a prophet, those who join first have special status.  Some  people have reached there and attained the intimacy of the Prophet ﷺ. It is better to maintain your dignity. When she stopped, I realized she was right.  I responded that this was a good comment.

We have now read the account of a wise woman who came to Madinah as a captive. These were the signs that the  behaviour of the Prophet ﷺ influenced her. The sister is talking like this to her brother, who has a strong animosity towards the Prophet ﷺ.  These are some of the answers given by history to the question of how so many people reached Madinah and the Prophet ﷺ in such a short period of time.

Here is a change of mind of a glorious person who went to Syria thinking that he did not want to stand on the soil where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had set his foot .

Adiyy set out for Madinah . All the virtues of character that he heard about the Prophet ﷺ impressed upon his heart.  He himself says.  I went straight to the maajid of the Prophet ﷺ.  There are women and children.  They told me about their relationship with the Prophet ﷺ.  Then I walked towards the Prophet ﷺ.  I was convinced that his presence was nothing like that of Kisra or Caeser emperors.  I said Salam as a greeting.  Then I was asked. Who ?  I said.  Adiyy bin Hatham.  The Prophet ﷺ immediately got up and walked home with me.  On the way, an old woman asked the Prophet ﷺ to stay for a while.  When the Holy Prophet ﷺ took time to listen to her , I assured that this is not the appearance of a king.

We walked and entered the house.  A mat made of palm fiber was spread for me.  Then I was asked to sit on it.  I said.  Oh  Prophet (ﷺ) you sit upon it.  But the Prophet ﷺ forced me to sit down.  Holy Prophet ﷺ sat on the ground.  Then he started talking to me like this.  I inform you that there is no god but Allah.  Or is there anyone worthy of worship but Allah?  I inform you that Allah is the Greatest and the Glorious. Or  is there anyone else?  Then I said.  I stand by my faith.

Then the Prophet ﷺ said.  I am well aware of your ideal and belief.  Then I asked the Prophet ﷺ. Does he know better than I do about my ideals and beliefs?  He said, ‘yes’ three times.  Then he asked me.  Aren’t you Rakusiy?  Aren’t you the leader in your group?  I said, yes.  Do you not walk among them leading the flock?  I said.  Yes.

When this happened, I realized that the man who was in front of me was the Prophet ﷺ and that there were supernatural powers to him. “Oh dear, is it not the financial backwardness that you see in us that is preventing you from accepting this religion? By Allah !  Soon there will be financial prosperity and there will be no one here to accept charity.  Another thing that hinders you is the lack of our members and the abundance of enemies ?  But understand that there will come a time when a woman from the region of Qadisiyyah will visit this holy place safely on a camel.  Or that we have a time of safety and acceptance to come.

Another report says:  The Prophet ﷺ asked Adiyy.  Have you seen Hera?  He said. ‘No’.  “However, women from that area will  travel safely to here and visit the shrine.  On that day, they will only have to fear Allah and the wolf that takes away their sheep.  Kisra’s coffers will be opened for you.  Then Adiyy asked in surprise.  Of Kisra bin Hurmuz?  The Prophet ﷺ clarified that ‘yes’.
